Hi all,

Glad to be here! I've hooked up with Amibay in the hopes of exchanges, specifically to restore and update an A2000. We'll see where it goes from there!

Cheers,
Kludgy

Hi! Hope that you have luck... I posted and wanted for an amiga 2000 motherboard and nothing... I think that the people doesn't like portuguese euros :(

I'm sorry to hear that. I think decent A2000 mainboards might just be hard to come by and fairly coveted these days, so patience is useful. I've been fortunate enough to find two Amiga 2000s via craigslist over the past year, so I'm starting with those.

One is in very good condition considering, a rev 4.2. Minimal corrosion reached a few vias, but it doesn't seem too bad. This is my current build unit.

The other is a 2000HD, but it is in pretty rough shape. Corrosion has proceeded fairly far along the traces and into various sockets. By appearances it was probably stored in some inclement/damp conditions as well. (For shame!) This one is flaky at best and presently shows only a black screen, so it should be a good project for someone with patience and skill. (The board is a rev 6.2, so that's a tempting pay-off.)

Cheers,
Kludgy

well, I have here an Amiga B2000-CR rev 4.3 in good shape but the fat lady socket was a little loosy so I bought and soldered a new one... And the bad thing was I also replaced all the sockets for new machined ones. The board booted for some minutes, started to get garbage on screen and now it doesn't do anything. just a steady green light on led power. It is over my skills to repair that...

Thanks for the welcomes!

Happy tidings: With some additional TLC, cleaning and reseating the KS IC, the rev 6.6 motherboard now works. As a result I have an additional rev 4.3 A2000 that may be up for sale soon.

That is either 6.0 or 6.2 or 6.3, 6.6 doesn't exist and 6.5 is quite a challenge to find.

I would however also rebuild the PSU with a more modern ATX print in it.

I use paypal so I don't mind portuguese euros, and if I had an A2000 motherboard then I'd sell it to you.

What can we do to get you smiling again?

Hello my friend... I am geting old probing all traces from the IC's that I soldered new sockets... I have done this xls file to help me. I will complete this with all IC's . To get me smile again it is simple... Just a little tip to find what have gone wrong... After resockted all IC's the 2000 booted up, shown the kick screen and after some minutes some lines (black ones) showed up on screen. turned off and on again and no more A2000... Any kind help to troubleshoot the problem?? All IC's worked fine on A500. Could the crystal gone wild with the heat of dessoldering the fat agnus? used hot air from Aouye 968A+

Hah and sad tidings. It stopped working again: KS3.1 shows a cyan screen, and KS 1.3 just stays black. I think there is creeping corrosion damage in the sockets so it'll have to be torn down again. Ah well.

Kludgy, I hate to spam you, but have you stopped by my store? I have a bunch of A2000 stuff up there and I am in Alberta! The 2 - A2000's I have now are just 4.x boards though, but I have a bunch of cards for it that may interest you

Thanks for the heads up quarkx. I may have what I need for now but will check it out!
