I am a computer user who grew up using commodore computers. I owned a VIC-20, C64 , A2000 and A1200, and regrettably sold everything except the VIC about 20 years ago. I thought the Amiga platform was dead for good, and moved on to the PC.
I have just got myself a 1084s with the main purpose to run 320x200 DOS games (mainly old adventure games from Lucasarts and Sierra) in 15khz. I loved the amiga, but I must confess that I had some envy of some 256 color games of MS-DOS while the amiga version would only have 32 colors (eg King's Quest V) or would not exist at all (eg Space Quest V)
At the same time, I disliked the blockyness of MSDOS pixels on VGA monitors. THe 1084 had an arcade feel and looked so much better. Also, the scroll in fast moving games was far superior.
With recent developments both in HW and in SW, it it now possible to enjoy those DOS games with both the "amiga" feel the extra colors and I'm looking forward to it.
Just after buying the 1084s, I also decided to get myself an A1200 back again (which is now on the way), and rescue some valuable stuff I have which is still trapped in amiga floppy disks. I just learned about WHDLoad and it really looks exciting to me. I'm really looking forward to using it.
I'm sure I'll need to buy some parts to tune my setup just the way I'd like to, so that's basically what brought me here.
Now, off to the "Wanted" forum, because there a specific monitor i'd like to find and try out for my experiments
