I have done well not to buy retro stuffs since 3rd June and I have done well on Saving moneys up quickly :)

When come to time to spend again then I know what to get :)

what about you?

Dear AmigaForever,

you have a good strategy :)
Not me....i spend my money throwing fivers&tenners left and right.
Small amounts at a high frequency == lotsa cash.
Then again, i just need little things...so this just might work for me :)

Grtz, PymerOne.

I'm only spending on things that I really want, there is a Deneb on the way, a BigRAM has arrived and I'm prepping 35 SCA-80 drives most of them 18,2 GB but 10 of them are 36,4GB and most are 10000 rpm but some are even 15000.

At this point, my main goal is getting every Amiga with a good used SCA-80 drive or IDE and then start replacing all PSU's with new PC ones.

The only thing I am after on the Amiga area now, is RTG cards and network/USB, so Jens new card will do fine, once it's out, I'll order a few right away.

I've promised myself to stop buying retro hardware and spend max 50-60€/month on expanding my big box and CD32 collection.
It's damn hard but I can save some money too now :)

The only piece of hardware I still want in my boxed collection is a boxed A1200.Guess that will be the stuff I save my Euro's for now :blased:

Just sold practically all of my old PC hardware too and I feel good about that.

I'd been buying and hoarding everything since I can remember. Most stuff was purchased new when originally released. And then buying more stuff for it all that I had wished for but couldn't afford at the time.

But a couple of years ago I looked at it all and thought I really am never going to use most of it ever again, so have slowly been downsizing my retro collection, and some newer stuff. It is a strange feeling partying with some items I'd owned for 20+ years, but once gone it was a great feeling, and I knew it had gone to someone whom would use it, rather than just hoarding it in a box.

A good example is my Amiga A4000. I'd owned her since 1996, buying her 2 years old from a uni friend. Originally using her as my main computer for university animation and graphics. Then as my main Amiga. I'd upgraded it over time with 3.9 roms, maxed out the ram, CD Writer, 040 cpu etc. But I finally sold her earlier this year. It was a sad moment, but the friend who purchased her has just finished having her fully refurbished with new caps and some motherboard repairs. And I know she will be used and enjoyed.

For other systems... older 8 bit and some 16 bit systems I've gone completely emulation only, and for most other consoles I've slowly been getting an Everdrive for each to reduce the need to have loads of shelf space full of games.

I still have some way to go. 100s of bird Amiga games to sort through. Thousands of retro magazines. And a huge Star Wars collection that I'm currently considering downsizing.

I definitely think my days of hoarding for the sake of it are gone. It's so much nicer having less cluttered rooms.

I'm also not spending money monthly on retro things. Just the occasional item.

Like a true addict.

I'm currently selling off, but I do feel a terrible itch to buy stuff. Like there is a Mac for sales by a fellow viking in here.

Each day I tell my self. "No, Arnljot - you're clearing out to make room and make it easier".

But I know I will bust one day. And I know that you'll be kinder than me that day, and not ROTFL of me then :ninja::lol:

Been looking to collect for a system for a while and I thought I had found my system in the ZX Spectrum as it was the machine I grew up with. Sadly my +2 failed after a few weeks due to the kids and metal sweet wrappers and i had to sell it on. I won't be making that mistake again as I am going to cover up the ports I wont be using from now on.

Good news is though I sold my music keyboard and i had a few days of going around in circles looking for another system to collect for. This really got to me as I didn't know which one to get. In the end I have settled for the C64 which I am very excited about.

This week is going to be amazing as I will get my C64 with a boat load of games. I am not interested in using floppy as I want to buy the original games and the prices are quite high. Cassettes will be my main focus, but if i can I will get the carts when they are of a decent price.

Had like a million expenses during may-june so I have to pace myself until September about.
Then again it's been awesome to rediscover clubbing, and summer is the season for it, so it's all good. :D

Splurged last year when I got back into it all. Got a bit carried away with a 1200 with CF hard drive, a blizzard 1260 and an Indy Mk2.....
Have just done up the house (as in completely redone it) and so am skint now so no more buying of retro gear..... :(

But having said that, unless I go big box or PPC then I am not sure what else I would need/want.

I've slowed down, not enough time or space to keep everything.

I have focused more on the software/games now. I have machines but now getting some good retro games to enjoy.

Buying "junk", as my mum calls it, is the main reason why all my money disappears.

I don't have the space for any more stuff. Once I get a CD drive for my A1200 I won't be buying any more upgrades for her. I want to network her but already have cards that I can use with Amiga drivers.

I also need to fix up and sell those numerous C64s I have as well as my other surplus systems, and generally downsize my collection to a manageable amount.

I need to focus on stuff I actually have, as a lot gets left in boxes to rot. As a result I can save for other things.

i made a promise to myself that i would stop buying stuff and downsize, get rid of all of the duff games in the collection and just have a good set of great games. not really happened yet as i've been worse than ever and in the last couple of months got about 150 games! d'oh!

i just cant resist a good bargain it seems

Okay, I bust today.

I sent email wanting to buy FGAArcade, and I bought a 68060 CPU :picard

"Hi, my name is Arnljot. I'm an addict".

After promising myself I won't get any more stuff for the time being, and indeed trying to make a start on having a clearout as I've already got stuff stashed in other peoples houses and in work as I'm out of space to store it all, I met someone today who was telling me about a load of Acorn archie stuff they've got lurking around.

Guess where I'm hoping to go tomorrow on my afternoon off..

No More Retro Stuffs for this Month as Last one I bought was new Dreamcast game :)

Now I'm not hold off, but I must keep my mind on 4 main goals.
1st - sell unneeded stuff...
2nd - keep my mind on C64C and upgrading/expanding it...
3rd - keep my mind on A600 Tower project... It's waiting too long time...
4th - start to have fun with Win'98 again ;)

I've slowed down massively - to a halt. I have pretty much everything retro I want or ever wanted so for once I am content. :)

Now if only I could buy time to play it all! :(

I've done well this year.. I have the same number of retro systems as I had at the beginning of it. I've bought a ps3 though this month as I've been contemplating a modern system. Only other things have been an Apollo 1240 and a fast ata for my 1200.

Did buy a 27" Sony CRT last month though for my retro stuff. LCD just has my ps3 and Amiga on it now, as it flicker fixes
