How to run Focus Multimedia Software on modern Windows 8 Laptops?

Hi

OK so i want to run this piece of software done by Focus Multimedia (made in 2007) on my current laptop. On the box, it states that it will run on Windows XP/Vista, so this was made before Windows 7. Anyway, my current laptop obviously meets the specification requirements for this software, but has Windows 8 installed. On installing the software, it appears to install just fine, but when i try and run it, it just sits there and ignores it. Note, the machine doesn't crash, or not respond (freeze), but just ignores the click and carries on!

Does anyone have a solution into getting software of this era to run on current modern gen laptops?

yes i have had a play with those settings, but no luck. (but havent tried the virtual pc part...)
