Hi all
A little bit about me. Grew up with a C64.. wrote my first program at the age of 5
10 Print "Hello World"
20 Goto 10
We've all been there :-D
This found my love of computers.
Got my first Amiga 500 in '89 (Just turned 9, Christmas present) and spent the next few years saving up my pocket money to upgrade it.
First upgrade was 0.5mb chip ram, then got an 68020 with FPU (running at a whopping 14mhz) and 1.5mb fast ram.
Then added a 320mb hard drive on the left hand side expansion port before upgrading the kickstart to 3.1.
Also added 3 external floppy drives during my time which made Beneath a Steel Sky *much* easier, until I could load everything on to the hard drive!
After going reading in issues of Amiga Format about IRC and the internet, I convinced my dad to take me up to London to go to "Cyberia" - an awesome internet cafe. I went there several times over the next year until in '92 I signed up to Demon Internet and got a 33.6 Mr Modem... well, my parents did... I was 11/12 years old.
Once my parents got a phone bill in for £300 in the first quarter, my internet access was *reduced* somewhat, but still spent as much time online as I could.
Had some great chats over the years in #amiga on IRCnet back when the AF guys would frequent the channel, and chatting to Spadge about Worms, were all great memories
After this, I got a 1200 with a blizzard 68030-50 and mounted this in an Eyetech EZ-Tower (or, not so EZ for me...), added a surf-squirrel and a 3 speed cd-rom donated from my sisters boyfriends work PC.
Sadly, things slowly migrated to the PC world, but I still kept my miggys running, so I could enjoy some awesome games.
There are a few people I recognise here from PD, so always good to see familiar faces.. but looking forward to connecting with others to chat about old times!
