OK I have prices for postage with EMS Pocztex (it's some sort of DHL but provided by the Polish post).

For USA/Canada = about 34 Euros
For Australia = about 46,50 Euros
For all EU countries = about 32 Euros

The parcels have a tracking number and are insured up to 44 MTS (it's about 50 Euros) in case their get lost.

I don't mention DHL or UPS they asked horrendous prices: 150 Euros for a single parcel to USA/Canada/Australia and EU.

I will try to get normal parcel fees at the Polish Post Office later.

So here are the prices for a normal postage /not a UPS or DHL kind/
Postage up to 500g - Priority - air mail - by certified mail / by recorded delivery

EU Countries including Russia and Israel - about 9,20 Euros (included package fees)
USA/Canada - about 11,20 Euros (included package fees)
Australia and Oceania - about 15,00 Euros (included package fees)

Hi Diskers!

Thanks so much for trying to get this group buy going. Unfortunately, it will cost more than I'm willing to pay at the moment since he cannot remove the VAT. :( I need to back out of this group buy.

Thanks for trying!

Heather

Same, remove the VAT or no deal, I'm not paying another countries taxes just because he's too lazy to sort his **** out! :(

It doesn't make since to pay the VAT. There is no savings that way. Sorry, I am withdrawing interest. Thank you for your work on this.

Also its important to note, his price includes VAT. I dont know exactly which countries this is relevant for (Europe only?) but it should be taken into account, as its a whopping 23% !
That's a wonderful point. I know in the past he's sold them to me without VAT since I was outside the country.

Heather

Seriously ? When ? I don't see how this is possible ?!?

Hi there diskers,

I'm still interested in one of these. You have gone to the trouble of trying to get the best deal for us so I am happy enough to get one through you if you still want to go ahead with the bulk buy. If you decide to not bother with it I can go through the normal route so please don't feel pressured either way :)

All the best whichever way you decide,

Allen

I'm pretty sure it was on my very first one because I had ordered it directly through him. The others I bought through eBay so I don't know if VAT was in those. I honestly don't know anything about VAT but I was under the impression that it was charged to buyers who are in the country of origin. I've purchased items from other sellers who removed the VAT since I was in the USA. Maybe that's not legally allowed, but I really don't know.

Thanks!

Heather

Heather, it is perfectly legal but requires a little effort from the seller.
Even when you visit another country, if you buy something and declare to the seller you intend to export it, you can get the VAT refunded.

I did this some years back on a trip to Europe, bought an LCD projector & had to fill out some export forms at the store.
I did pay the full price initially but after a few months got a check in the mail with a full refund of the VAT.

It is my first post over her, so first of all i want to say BIG HELLO to everyone. I will explain to everyone why I must charge VAT.

Here's a little information from my www main page:

My name is Przemyslaw Krawczyk, but commonly I`m known to people of Polish Atari Scene as "lotharek". I`m rather busy man - till late afternoon I run tank trailers repair workshop - BURG ZABRZE in position of Service Manager. Late afternoon activity is completly different matter. etc etc

Whatever I do besides my main activity, is some extra one that takes time after first one. Because of My country ( rather not country, but let me say LOCAL - SIEMIANOWICE IRS) I charge VAT and of course I pay it to IRS - i get 10E from You, I pay 10E to IRS. That is how it works.

Why ??

It is completely explained at my www - REGULATIONS

Here are my options:

1. I post to USA/CANADA without VAT but charge for any international carrier (DHL, UPS, ect ) almost 80-150E
2. I post to above countries with regular post but charge VAT + 7-11E postage ( for orders above200E is free postage anyway)

There is no other option to GET CUSTOMS CONFIRMATION THAT POLISH LAW WILL ACCEPT THAT GOOD HAS LEFT POLISH DUTY ZONE WITHOUT SPENDING WHOLE DAY WITH PAPERS in OFFICE 1 hour driving away from home.

It is after work activity and I see no possibility to spend long hours in DUTY OFFICES and MAKE DECLARATIONS/FORMS/ETC ( one cost roughly 17E) - I can not afford it. Sorry.

In many countries, VAT is refundable at CUSTOMS at your country upon showing PAYPAL payment receipt.

I will not change my rules - that is the point of them. I have sent to Heather vat free Sd emulator, BECAUSE IT WAS SENT FOR FREE - WHITE REV C as gift - she was the first one in the world to have it. Why ? it is our business.

Hi everyone,

@UberFreak - It could also depends in what profile you have chosen when setting up a company, for example if you didn't checked import-export on the registration form you cannot do any sales related to export - Maybe he didn't fulfill all requested procedures to sell without VAT to individuals - I'm saying that is like I didn't say anything, I've never setup a company and never was interested to do so, all I'm saying is purely hypothetical. :)

@Allen1 - We will see how many people will respond, if we will have only 2-3 units so i don't think it will be worth it, we won't for sure receive the same before stated prices and a discount of 3-5 Euros (if there will be any) is not so interesting, I think. As for now I only received one confirmation, yours :D

Cheers diskers,

its probably best to give it another week and give people a chance to reply and then decide which way to go. Whatever the outcome, you have at least gone to all the trouble of trying to get the best deal for us which is commendable and I thank you for your efforts on our behalf

All the best,

Allen

Thanks for letting everyone know why you have to charge VAT, Lotharek. It makes much more sense to me now.

Yep! I guess that's the one where I was not charged VAT. He's been nothing but amazing with his customer service and support. That plus the fact that he's doing all this work in his spare time makes him a real asset to the community. I certainly appreciate all he does.

Now that I'm a bit more educated about the whole VAT issue, I'm definitely up for getting a Rev. F. I think it may end up being less expensive if I just have him ship it to me as opposed to ordering through the group buy. If not then you can count me back in on this.

Heather

this likely doesnt help the thread in any way but I've bought a few things from Lotharek and his goods and service have always been AMAZING and "imho" great value. (let hope the thread doesnt now uselessly fill up with everyone agreeing, or otherwise, sorry for being "the one")

:)

You know, lotharek as a company owner can have better currency exchange rates in comparison to a private bank account owner. In Poland there's no Euro currency but PLN (Polish Zloty) and exchange rates are changing each day, today I can receive 4.0 PLN for one Euro tomorrow 3.90 or 4.10. Moreover the selling price of each foreign currency is different from the buying price, the difference in the so called spread can be even 12%. Taking as example today exchange rates - if I would like to buy in my bank Euros i have to pay 4.4 PLN for one Euro but if I sell it I will receive only 4.01 PLN. On the other hand if i had a bank account in the same bank as a company I would buy one Euro for 4.31 PLN and sell it for 4.15. This difference can cause slight difference but it won't be a fortune :D

Hi everyone,
Because of lack of interest in this group buy, I will leave this thread open until Tuesday then close it. As for now i received one confirmation what isn't enough for a group buy :D.

Sorry it didn't work out Diskers. :( I'll go ahead and order mine directly through Lotharek. I really appreciate you going through the effort!
