None, Just use Bblonde or smilar as it is, straight from the bottle.

Fair enough. I can't help but feel a little disappointed that the awesome science of Retr0bright has been reduced to "smear some hair dye on your plastics and leave them in the sun." I kinda feel like it deserves to be something a bit more sophisticated!

I prefer to think that there are blondes going about that have been "Retr0brighted".

I wonder if this could start one of those silly myths like the "Coca-Cola dissolves metal" one?

"Look at what it does to those plastics - would you really want to put that stuff on your head?!"

I know, but Retr0bright was a proof of concept and a technology demonstrator and it more than served it's purpose. Do you realise that it was SEVEN YEARS AGO this summer that we were working on the backroom science that led to Retr0bright?

So you made as a proof of concept then made millions selling it as a hair product?

Looks really good buddy, as John says, do the other machine too. Or mod the yellow one before retrobrighting and even if it looks new you won't be worried about modding it cause it'll already be done :)

Thanks for the suggestion John and ScarrySphinx. I tried the brown one in the background and it's come out pretty good as well after one session

Keys aren't looking too bad either

After all that hard work I had to go inside and watch some Countdown.... (I like to think it helps with my IQ )

For those of us in the States, a hair salon supply shop is the place to go. I got mine locally at Sally's, it's the "40" version (you have to have a license to get the stronger stuff, no thanks). It's just generic peroxide cream, nothing special.

They were curious as to what I needed it for (my avatar is a pretty accurate rendition of me, so it's hard to imagine I would use it for its intended purpose), but it was no problem getting it.

Tell them what I told the girl in Superdrug when she asked me why I was buying it; "It's to make the collar and cuffs match!"

As my old buddy used to put it when it came to girl-watching, "Distance is the great equalizer". :)

Or as Alicia Silverstone said in 'Clueless'; "It's like a painting, see? From far away, it's OK, but up close, it's a big old mess."

One look at me in my Phreaknic T-shirt, and they would have known better. LOL! :)

Nah; sometimes you have to freak the straights! Catch them off-guard with a comment like that and the reaction is epic!

In my case, I'm still pretty far away when they decide that's close enough!

Getting back on track, has anyone given any thought to building a Retr0bright "(De)Tanning" booth? Or aka, "An industrial sized EEPROM eraser"? A storage tub lined with tin foil and an EEPROM eraser with the cover off should do the trick...

The foil should get all sides evenly. Maybe...

I think the keys turned well in the end. I'll let them dry out, repair the 3 I damaged and then clear coat them

Sadly the case was a bit of a mixed bag... I remember Merlin saying Retr0bright could only do so much and while the top is going but the bottom half  One side looks good but the other half is just too far gone I guess :picard

Still, thank God for Scrappysphinx sending me a freebee with the other case I bought  Ignoring the extra air holes from some botched mod it's white and scrubbed up really well :thumbsup2::thumbsup2:

How many bottles of the undiluted BBlonde for just a 1200's keys?

Nipped into local Superdrug yesterday and bought 2 thinking I was going to have to mix them with something else. If using neat then surely more than 2 bottles required?

Thanks.

Nope, one bottle should be enough, you only need a thin coating of it, you aren't plastering.

Hoping some very rare west central Scottish sun will do a job today. The stand is a cycle maintenance stand from Lidl, something like £20, very versatile and holds bikes too :-D
