Earlier this year I luckily picked up an A1200 in excellent condition, I never owned one in the 90s so this was a real treat for me. It came with CAD software and the usual accessories. What wasn't listed was what seems to be an accelerator with additional RAM. I haven't tested it out yet, but have a few questions.

Edit: So just realised there is more info on the silkscreen under the RAM, which has kind of answered my first question. Microbotics Inc MBX1200

1. Can anyone help me identify this card from the photos? I'd like to know if it a good card to use and maybe find a copy of the manual for it.

2. What software can I use to identify cards and their features, and maybe test the card I have as well?

3. Should I replace the caps on the card? (no signs of damage right now)

Thanks

It's an 4mb/8mb Ram Board by jumpers you can set it to 4mb to make PCMCIA compatible without changing the sim but I'm sure you found this info now you have the make/model.

If it's working then I would say no need to change the caps. Keep an eye if they bulge or leak you should change them.

As you can see you have the 68882 FPU fitted which was optional, this can help speed up some productivity apps.

Perfect card for WHDLoad and giving your Workbench a nice small boost :)

It's easy to see if it's working, just put inside your A1200 and load Workbench, you will see the Fast Memory as well as chip memory displayed at the top of the screen. Use Showconfig to see if the 68882 is detected, it will also list the memory as well.

The details under the simm read Microbotics Inc MBX1200, I posted before realising there was info hiding under there.

Thanks for all the help. I found the manual for the 'other' model, the MBX1200z, but it has different features, so I will keep looking for an manual for the MBX1200 version. Thanks again.

Unfortunately I have been unable to find the manual for this one, if anyone has a digital copy, can you let me know?

Also has anyone upgraded one of these before, I understand I can swap out the Maths co-processor for a 68882 to run at 25MHz or 50MHz, but I think I also need a crystal? Any advice?

Are sure there's a separate manual, I think only difference is the clock?
