Think of all the HW I could have owned, if only I was a good boy and did as I was told early on. Now I'm paying out the backside for it.

Any more of you with recent major work done...instead of buying a couple A4000T's ? :picard

I have flossed and cleaned like mad for a couple of years now, but still the register say CHA-CHINNNG when I stop by
Well, at least my A500 is very enjoyable ...no gvp530 though.

Let me hear all about your horrible root canals, decay and whatnot.

well i suffered heavy losses at the dentist 7 years ago when i needed a wisdom tooth removed. It was a horrific experience and the dentist put the weight of her body behind her to free the tooth, then simply unscrewed it as if it was a screw  then the blood came flowing :wooha:

The losses amounted to around £200 in the end :picard

I've been using a sonic toothbrush these past 10 years and using good quality Dentyll mouthwash. My dentist gives these actions the thumbs up.

But my losses pale in comparison to my recent vet bills, or indeed my conveyancers and estate agents fees :shhh:

Sounds like that technique was outdated even 7 years ago.....I had on of mine done two weeks ago....Just a few gentle tilts from each side, and it came loose.
The one BEFORE that one, had to be cut out after being split in 4 pieces......for something like £200 :help: bled for a week.

I get free dental care though my wife's disability (not sure if its also free cause i am diabetic) but still if any teeth need to come out i insist on going to the hospital and being put to sleep. I can sit through a filling but i cannot take a removal

When 16 just started my apprenticeship got a bad tooth went to dental hospital(the UK guys know what I mean),basically they let the students loose on ya.
well the guy working on me was the same age and to cut a long story short the idiot nearly overdosed me on cocain I am here because of a vigilant dental nurse who spotted me flaking out.Only private from then on and still have most of me teeth !then had another one out last month one dentist gave up could not shift it called his mate to finish it and after 3/4 of an hour tooth out :D

Sorry about the wifys condition and your diabetes, scrappy.
You deserve the work done for free.

I had my first removal, surgically, done this summer. Yeah...the horror story one, split in four. Went well I think. Got an advantage with being used to being at the recieving end at the dentists wrath, I suppose.

I almost fall asleep now in those comfy gel chairs the have :D

Well I'm covered pretty good, but the first wisdom hurt like hell, was extracted pretty clean, but left a small hole that made fluid go trough my nose.
A little bit of waterperoxide did the trick, but it hurt like hell again.
The second was out before I knew it and I was eating the same night.

I don't floss, I really hate it!
I brush with an electric one and that's more than enough for me.

Boy, I would not let anyone fresh out of school, certainly not still in school, do work on my face !
Gas are more common in the UK I guess?....never had anything but syringes of orange nasty tasting stuff to ease the pain.

Ouch! If the roots are deep enough they can leave a cavity up to the lower sinus....easily infectable and very dangerous if diving or travilng by air :o

I don't know if anyone could be as bad at caring for their teeth as I was as a child.
Even as an adult I haven't been as good as I would like.

Strangely I haven't had much trouble (considering how little attention I paid to my teeth over the years).
Had one tooth pulled when I was 20, shortly after a wisdom tooth came through to take its place. The wisdom tooth came up in the right place, straight, left no gap and didn't give any pain.

Had a crown a couple of years ago... cost about $3500. Yes, a lot of money, but it is only one tooth.

I'm actually surprised I have any teeth left... I only had 2 go bad. I think my diet probably helps... I certainly know proper dental care is NOT the reason for the lack of tooth problems.

3500 AUD ?? woot

I checked out my place, and one root canal with crown will run me 1705,- AUD.

....and I have two of those that needs to get done:double

£300 sounds very cheap! Over here we pay nearly that just to have them pulled.
Up to the age of 21 there are discounts, but too late for me.

For all its faults the NHS and detistry are some of the best in the world thats why I never knock it

The crown itself usually costs $1200 - $1500 to get made. The rest of the costs are for the dentists work.

Mine was a little more than usual due to complications in the roots so I needed a couple of extra visits to the dentist.
But still, generally need to budget around 3 grand to get a tooth done.

Private health insurance is a better idea.

I have no fillings in my teeth. I prefer it that way ;)

I know a lot of people that does not have fillings...but they DO have cavities :D
Some cavities are sneaky and you don't even know they are there until its too late and your molar split in half. That's why I just signed up for a check, every three months.

This one guy at work, haven't seen the dentist in 7 years:picard

I wanted to go through life without needing a filling but made it just under halfway. At 29 I had my only filling and was proper gutted :(

I never liked the idea of having a mercury filling but it is too late now....

Shocked here to see some of the priced quoted. 3000 bucks - wow I would expect full VIP treatment red carpet an driver.

Mercury filling 3 years ago ?? Did not think they still were legal 10 years ago ??

It is an amalgam filling, so has a small % of mercury but as of 2008/09 yup still get them.

I'm nearly 30 and i've only ever had one filling (over 10 years ago!)... My next trip to the dentist will result in another filling as i can feel a small hole developing in one of my wisdom teeth .
