Fellow readers im doomed!

It started tree months ago with some innocent googling on games and i got an uncontrollable urge to play. No im not talking about the FPS Syndicate! Im talking about the pure 2D love that made me stay up and play all night. I'm talking about the games that got me to miss the bus, get bad grades and fired from jobs in that order.

Regrettably my old computer stuff was lost to time and stupidity... mostly stupidity. I started to think:
“i have money”
“a spear room”
“im still stupid”
I can get all the things i had before!

I found some old computer magazines from my youth and started to hunt down everything from what i owned/played to what i wanted to own/play as a kid. And some weeks ago it all hit me... I CANT STOP!

But i told myself...
My wife don’t seam to mind (much) and my kids love all the computers and consoles i got “them”. So kids where the heck is my best father in the universe coffee mug!

And besides can’t be that bad as i don’t even have an Amibay account... :unsure: ...Im doomed but i like it! :D

Hi People

You will fit right in here as everyone is "collecting" :double

This is familiar to me :huh: but I resist to admit it : I'm not doomed : I can speak in latin and I can float in the air (few miliseconds), but I can not turn my head more than 180 degrees ... :blink: Wow, this is not the subject of this thread, so ... Yes, I also like retro things, and may be I'm possesed by a 68030

Be welcome! :cool:

Hi gronk and welcome to this paradise!

Of course mate, it is not "stupidity" to still love 2D retro video gaming! Its pure fun! As you may noticed, lately too many people found it more fun than playing hi-end 3D games of the current era! You'll probably noticed also that, retro game emulators are (still) developed for the latest gadget hardware (say, PS3, 360, PSPvita etc!)

Well, a strange thing I've read in your post here, was the "fired from jobs" due to ...video gaming! I thing it sounds funny rather than bad to me, and I believe that you're a pure/original retro video gamer (or whatever this can be called in correct English/US lang)! :)

Just keep in mind the following.

If you plan to make a (real hardware) retro computer/console collection, try to keep it low.
Meaning, if you stick on aquiring/buying beloved retro video game hardware stuff, according to what you wrote above, you might start collecting like a maniac which will probably end up with a huge collection of retro stuff, having spent hundreds of bank notes!

Unless if you're talking about retro-game emulators, but by seeing that you've posted here to amibay your "concern", I guess you are thinking of having real retro-hardware.

You should plan your expenses CAREFULLY, as you will notice that prices are getting a bit.... Out Of This World (no, no I m not talking about Delphine's Software smash hit :D).
Spare money can be found, but these must be spent with caution when collecting retro stuff. So be carefull with the prices (reeeeeeead amibay, read as many posts as possible here!), because sometimes (especially in ebay) prices are ... "Mona Lisa compatible" rather than "megadrive - ready"!

And lastly,

I have had a few bad school marks too due to my CPC, Amiga and ST though I could never imagine to have myself fired from my work! :D (sorry man, it sounded really funny!)

I don't know why I m writting all these... Probably I'm off topic. I don't know...
Just a friendly advise I guess :cool: and that's all

Have fun mate!

Hi, I'm Dave and I'm a retro-holic.... and so are you, gronk..... :)

Hi
Welcome to Amibay and yes collecting can become addictive, but look at it this way, your kids are enjoying what you bought and who knows, perhaps they will get bitten by the retro bug too! :lol:

The "Red Pill" claims another poor soul Merlin?

@keropi
Well this is most of it. I built sort of a bar to house all the stuff as one of my other hobbys is drinking (less addictive anyways). I rigged everything to a TV and an Monitor so i could just play. The two A4000d is under restoration and Im waiting for some more spare parts before they are ready.

@ndial
Don’t take me to seriously my fellow collector most of the things that come form me is pure gibberish besides, most of us lose/change job now and then, i have the advantage of knowing why i had to do it once in my life. It is funny now and i probably thought it was funny than! Or i dint care!... it was the 90s dude.

Thank you for the tips i sort of realised i had to slow down the buying frenzy. Whisky helps if someone wants to know a trick for that.

Emulation is another topic but will it be the same if i dont have to wait 20minutes for Pirates! to load up on my c64.

@all
Salute and thank you for a warm welcome.

awesome stuff there gronk , a bar-like construction is very nice for such stuff provided you have the space (which you do, lucky!)

Good evening my alter ego ;)

Awesome collection gronk!
Teach your kids their history (if possible).
That's what I do although my kid is only 19 months old :-)
I kept saying the word "amiga" to him every time his passes near!
Well it will not be fun though if instead of saying "papa", "daddy" etc one day, to hear "amiga" from his funny little leaps!
