Hi Guys
Well it arrived today and saved by my next door Nebiour dhl left it on the door step not good when your door opens on the street!!!!!

Not installing it yet as need to remove so much to get into it one thing I am a little dumb to understand is what does true IDE mean I noticed in the documents it mentioned that it will not work with UDMA IDE cables

the PCB looks great and very clean would love to know more about the card I regretted selling my Buddha Phoenix and wish I had kept it for my A4000 instead of the Elbox Mk 4 mind you had only bought it LOL.

As per previous Buddha cards it will only play nice with "true ide" devices. So regular hard drives, cd roms and so on are fine. Things get a bit unusual for us Amiga users as our regular CF to IDE solutions in general won't work. As far as I have read this is due to how CF cards in general are detected as removable, someone please correct me if I'm wrong ;) Possible solution is the mentioned industrial CF cards, as these are decteted as "fixed" the same as a regular hard drive.

The crazy thing is why Jens decided not to fix this with the new eddition. A patch is available for the older cards to correct this madness, although not sure if it will be compatable with the new card.

Yes and it presents CFs as fixed drives instead of removable drives which most CFs out of the box do.

Ahh it seems Jens has seen the problem and sorted it new update anyone tried it yet

Also bought this card. But I can't get anything to work with this card.
I tried various cf via a trueide and various dom modules.
Is there an update of the install software?

I got this device in to try out (I do silly things like that sometimes) when I heard a few issues. Who does that right?

Via a 40 pol (non dma) it didn't like anything. New drives, old drives, cards.

Using the connector that doesn't have the DOM in it (the one you're meant to put a drive on and the DOM will auto-install, partition, format, a WB for you) as a 3.3v supply to a 40 pin cf reader, it recognised one 4g cf card from Kingston (the flowered one) - partitioned it, but fails to format. All of which is automatic with no progress indicators, which is damn annoying to me.

Apparently from the info in the links and the wiki, Jens has an update that you need to do via a cable. He's going to send people the cable, or you can make one by following the wiki. Didn't make great sense to me, so I emailed to prompt a cable being sent. Also on the wiki is a zip download for the update.

Info at the bottom of this page: http://wiki.icomp.de/wiki/Buddha#Buddha_IDE_.2820-year_anniversary_edition.29 (I can't see too many people making this up themselves)

I intended to buy one of these for my Amiga 2000 so I could add a CF card with WHD Load etc.

However, if CF cards don't work with it, are we supposed to use standard PC IDE drives that require a power supply?

I bought one and already made update to 2 cards. It's very easy. I truly recommend you buy them. Orders from 27th February already have all fixes done.

They're having a batch of the cables made up, effective 'April' and will send them to customers who haven't opted-out - i.e. they've updated/made the cable themselves - to which they've asked if you would advise them so they don't have to send you one.

You can make the cable, it's very easy, costs less than 5€, you can get most parts from a near hardware store. I made mine, and now it detects my 32gb CF card. Great!

waiting for my cable to arrive..I'm using the supplied 256MB DOM as my main boot drive in my A4k but right now I can't see my 2'nd DOM so hoping the update will work to see if when the cable from Jens arrives

I made the cable myself and did the update, and the tool reports that the CPLD is up to date.

However my card gives me a yellow recoverable guru, Jens said this is potentially due to corruption in the flash, so I am currently waiting for a link/dl for the rom to re-flash it.

Prior to this though, I couldn't get my 40pin DOM to detect whether it was powered by the port or the molex cable (jumpers set accordingly) and also my 20GB IDE drive was only detected as 4GB, hopefully once I have the rom to update the flash it may cure the issues.

I have yet to test with CF, but I do have a TrueIDE somewhere.
