I purchased an Indivision 1200 AGA MK2cr last week and fitted it without any problem. However, today is the first chance I’ve had to try and configure the wretched thing and it isn't going too well.

The only screen mode I can get to even vaguely work is Pal: High Res. Everything else either isn’t recognised by my monitor, or just ends up with a garbled image. I also have some black lines on the screen, the picture is pretty small, and the image is offset to the right. I’ve tried various screen modes with BorderBlank both enabled and disabled as I’ve read this can make a difference, but it doesn’t for me.

So, I need to use the config tool. However, how the heck do I install this? I read the install info in the ReadMe file, but as soon as instructions such as “Open a shell and CD to that directory” came up, my blood ran cold. I have next to no knowledge of Workbench so have little idea what to do next. I’m keen to learn, but I’ve always been a games only man!

Therefore, if anyone would be good enough to provide some easy to follow, step-by-step instructions on how to install the config tool and get things running smoothly, I would be eternally grateful.

By the way, I’m running the Full version of Classic Workbench 3.1 on my A1200, just in case that makes a difference. Thanks in advance…

hi there is a install script you run and then the config tool is in prefs folder once run

keep another monitor/tv conected to rgb/composite to fall back on

I’ve got the unpacked tool sitting on the Workbench. I’ve tried to run the Install script and get the following:

If NOT EXISTS devs: indivision
makedir devs: Indivision
ENDIF
delete devs: Indivision/#?.rbf
copy #?.rbf devs: Indivision clone
copy Indivision sys: prefs clone
copy Indivision.info sys: prefs clone
copy #?.prefs envarc:
copy #?.prefs env:

And that’s it. I’ve made an Indivision directory in Devs, but nothing else is happening. I’ve tried to run the Install again, but the same thing comes up…

Try with the command "execute install" from the directory where the "install" script is.
Let me know it that helps...

Right, can’t get that to work either. Can you please tell me:

1. Exactly where to put the config tool folder.
2. Exactly what I need to type in the shell.

I have no idea about this part of Workbench, so it’s very likely that I’m doing something very simple incorrectly!

Thanks for your help…

I am not in front of my Amiga but, if I am not wrong, you only have to extract the file from the archive (maybe on RAM: ), open a shell, "cd" to RAM:"Name of the extracted folder" and type the command: execute install

Sorry but I can't be more precise since I am at work right now and I don't have neither the Indivision driver nor my Amiga here... :(

Ok, let me know if that works...
If everything goes well, after the installation you should find an Indivision Icon on your Prefs folder...

Well, I can’t get that to work either (AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!). I think I’m going to take a break for awhile before I throw my A1200 through the nearest window!

That's probably a good idea!

By the way, I think retr0fan at EAB made a proper installer for it, there's a massive thread at EAB with lots of info.

Maybe we can bribe johnim to make one of his awesome picture guides if he's not to busy :D

I read a few posts at EAB but since my MkII's work fine on my TV I've been reluctant to mess with the config tool yet...

Now that I’ve calmed down, I’m going to try this again a little later on when I have some free time.

I had a browse over at EAB, but couldn’t really find anything about installation of the config tool. Most of what I read was from people complaining about how difficult it is to use once they have it running. So, that’s something else to look forward to!

You could just do it manually, reading the script..
Code:
If NOT EXISTS devs: indivision
makedir devs: Indivision
ENDIF
Create devs:invision drawer/folder

Code:
delete devs: Indivision/#?.rbf
Doubt you have any there, but delete all *.rbf files from devs:indivision (this is for upgrades mostly. Skip it).

Code:
copy #?.rbf devs: Indivision clone
Copy all the rbf files to devs:Indivision

Code:
copy Indivision sys: prefs clone
copy Indivision.info sys: prefs clone
Copy Indivision and indivision.info to Sys: prefs

Code:
copy #?.prefs envarc:
copy #?.prefs env:
Copy all prefs files to envarc: and to env:

You should now have the icon in prefs on workbench

Download HGFX driver in Aminet and set as default monitor this help you to later aply the upgrade of new firmware and get the best of MKII...

Thanks for info, guys. I'll try these out tomorrow when I've got some free time...

Turranius, thank you. I followed those instructions, and it seems to have installed okay – finally! And many thanks to all who offered your help. It’s very much appreciated.

I still can’t get the damned Indivision working properly with either of my monitors, but I’m still playing with the config tool, so hopefully I can get it sorted.

Thanks again…

I tried this and I couldn't get it to work. Says things like cannot open indivision for input -object not found?

Ok I have installed the HighGFX drivers successfully to the Amiga. I still don't quite understand how I got my final configuration though and I'm still not sure how I alter it. As its working out quite nicely I make a back up of the hdd before I start messing with it again.

1: I now have 1024 x 768 for workbench. Even though it looks nice I think my 17" lcd native resolution is 1280 x 1024. Does anyone here know how I can change it to the higher res?

2: I downloaded someone's config file (On EAB) for games, hans 640 x 512 60hz. This looks great for games but still has pretty poor scrolling. I hear the V-frequency can be lowered manually but I can't see how to do it? The other thing is the all games now run the hans config automatically when they start where before they didn't. I don't remember telling it to do that?

3: Why and what is Amiga mode vs VGA mode in the config tool?

Thanks guys

Many thanks

Many thanks

Hi Guys
Just received my Mrk2 and thank you so much for this thread I thought I had received a brick my DCE worked perfect but as soon as I plugged in the Indi nothing. Lucky for Me I had done a bit of reading before I got the Mrk2, so when it did not work I came here.
I did the execute command after creating the folder and it installed perfectly. Then ran the update and now I have the 1024x768 so some more playing and hopefully that will be her in full screen.

thanks guys

Al:thumbsup:

When I got my Indi, it worked out of the box, but I wanted to try the different screen modes/resolutions available. I downloaded the Indi configure program, but like the OP it just listed the contents of the install file. When I tried to execute the install, for whatever reason it wouldnt install. However, reading the install file, as Turranius stated above, I simply manually did what the install file was supposed to do and copied the various files. I rebooted and the software now works.

With all the different "monitor drivers" available, which is generally the best for higher resolution Workbench? And then I assume there is a better one just for games? It seems most people mention the HGFX driver for the higer resolution Workbench screens?

High GFX

High GFX

Hi
Yeah its strange it works on some and not on others (software) wonder if its because I have CWB3.9 maybe the installer is more up to date.

I think the Indi did not like my 24" acer monitor so I can forgive it for that LOL.

I have the High GFX archive will try it tonight and update once I have done it.
