Hey.

I know there is some good guides around (here included) but searching for them just takes to much time and I get a bit frustrated :)

I've tried this and followed until the reboot but sadly I did not get any NDOS drives on my workbench after the reboot (yes I hit Return on each changes)

http://wiki.classicamiga.com/How_to_install_SFS_onto_a_real_Harddrive_within_WinUAE

Maybe there is a better understanding guides with som piccys in it

I can't get the partition to be saved and no reboot is been asked after saving changes to drive.

Yes I have pressed return on all changes made
Yes I have read/write on the hdd
Yes I have followed the pdf guide from a to z

Have no idea why it wont save my partitions

do a quick format that dh1 and see what it does

if nothing remove partitions from your 40gb drive in win 7 and try again

im using 80gb and 40gb in my miggys

It's not DH1 its SDH1

sfsformat drive dh1 name test
sfsformat drive dh0 name test

Both doesn't work but normal format does though it shows it as SDH1:Busy

try

sfsformat drive sdh1 name test1 (need to be diffent)
sfsformat drive sdh0 name test

try to use dh0 and so on tho in hdtool

Nope doesn't work

As I said .. I have followed every step in guide but I don't get the right drive letters.. It's like the partition part don't respond to the changes even after a reboot.

quit uae

go back to windows hardrive program remove partitions and try again

Haven't fiddled with "real" HDs (yet), though a tip... make doubly sure you always start UAE as admin. On my Win7 if I use "reset" it relaunches in an underpriviledged account.
Was very confusing at first!

Just curious (though I dunno if it matters, just asking) You got it mounted straight up to your southbridge directly (internal SATA/PATA ports) or through a USB interface?

John's guide worked for a 20gb 2.5" HDD I recently configured. I was surprised that none of the drives appeared at first but I followed his advice and reset WinUAE and they all popped up.

One mistake I did make, early on, was using a much older version of WinUAE without realising!

I've done some more stuff since and I tend to use 2.3.3 now, rather than the newer version, as it works well and I know it better.

So your saying that winuae 2.4.1 don't work ?

Should work fine, that's what I used a couple days ago to set my drives up again. (through a generic USB<->CF adapter)
Really ran an "ancient" version on the XP system but both worked for mounting the drives.

Woot !!!!! I made it work :)

Now I am not sure where I saw but someone made a small guide to how to install ClassicWB with a zip and an Install disk.

Can't remember who made it and the name of the thread
