Had anyone problem with Internet for past 2 weeks?

My broadband is 02 but it been bought by SKY!

It keep going down every so often as it wasnt like that before FFS

Best thing would be to contact your ISP and see if they can trace the fault, good luck

You mean I should contact SKY Broadband and what the fault of it?

It keep saying No Internet Access as I dont understand what that mean:picard

It means you got no access to the Internet!

Is that your router saying that or your computer?

My Computer saying No Internet Access on my desktop even thought I am using Wireless Broadband

You should be able to tell which by the address in the browser.

How would I check that?

I’ve been with Sky Broadband for a couple of years and have received this message twice, if I remember correctly. On both occasions it was some sort of fault at their end, with one of those being something wrong at my local telephone exchange. Therefore it’s probably worth a phone call to your ISP’s customer services so they can trace any potential faults…

The web address where you type website addresses. Normally it will have the name of your router (Sky Broadband Router), or an IP address (192.168.0.1) when the router is displaying the error message.

About 3 - 4 AM for the last 2 consecutive days my router has lost its ADSL (broadband line) connection for about 15 minutes. I wonder if it is a related issue.

I'm with Sky too.

contact your provider and get a technician out to look at the line.

simples.

And these days, get charged if they find nothing.

i thought they had to come out,i dont think they can charge you for a service your supposed to have.

its perfectly logical to get them to check the line,it is there job.

no-one here can check it.

Since sky took over I've lost an entire megabit of sync speed.. If it carrys on dropping I'll be at 1mb by the end of the month.. Planning on leaving though at some point so I can get fibre. 3.5mb isn't quick enough anymore.

The "no connection to the internet" error can be caused by numerous things. Try resetting your router/modem. If you can, try to connect with a LAN cable directly to your router. Most routers have an admin page which you should be able to bring up in a browser when connected via LAN cable.

if it's a sky router, it'll direct you to the login page of your router if there is a connection issue with the internet.

if it's not bringing up the router page, then your device isn't connecting to the network properly.

so 1st thing.

Windows: windows key & r together. Type: cmd . click enter. ipconfig in command prompt.

your ip should be something like 192.168.1.x . The gateway should be 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254 or alternatively: 192.168.0.x

If your ip isn't listed like that, then chances are you don't have a valid connection to the modem.

If you do, then open up IE, chrome or whatever browser you use and type in your gateway ip address into the address bar. login to router using the credentials on the white label on the router.

The page will say which part of the connection is failing.

edit: just read that it's an o2 router, similar still applies.

That is interesting to know and if my internet failed again then i will do somethings like what Gouldin said and will let you know!

I just hope it dont failed again because BT Broadband have hardly failed me which why they are the best but O2 that been bought SKY and I just hoping they be good as O2 Broadband:roll:

I don't know how it is with Sky but I had a friend who was with Tiscali. He reported a fault and asked for an engineer to come out. They told him if they find nothing he'll be charged for the service. Cant remember whether they said £35 or £50.

£50 if the fault is with your own cabling. BT standard charge.

Sky support is pretty good though, just phone them up and ask for a line test, it's free and if there's a fault, they book an engineer out to fix it. Not much of an issue.

dunno mate,im on virgin media:) (cable)

if its a problem with the phone line thats something else to take into consideration as well some areas are pretty bad and having internet over phone lines can depend on the what time it is and weather conditions sometimes.:)
