As the title suggests, is there a working alternative to idefix to use both channels of an ide splitter? I have idefix but if there's another way I would like to try it. I am already using load module and scsi.device 43.45 instead of idefix to access a big hard drive which is why I want to know if there's another way to access other drives and a dvd drive on a splitter without having to use idefix.

I'm interested too... I'd love that someone build an adapter based on keeper2k angled one (with CF output above PCMCIA), AND one extra IDE connector to connect CDrom or other internal IDE device...
I have IDEfix in another machine and it's not a very complicated board but I have no skill to design from what I see...
Otherwise to remain on the topic Amigakit has a lovely adapter / doubler which sometimes is in stock...

Never used it myself, but i think idefix comes with atapi.device that can be used separately / together with a normal scsi.device

Many CF cards won't play nice if there's another device on the same bus as it is often assumed in the design that they are not used in a master/slave configuration on an IDE bus. Even on a buffered interface it may not work. For CD-ROM connectivity it would be more compatible to use a regular HDD as the system drive.

I've been rebuilding a couple of systems recently using IDEFix97 hardware and software. Both were labelled as Eyetech (and reports are the Eyetech EZ-CD buffered IDE wont work with CF anyway), but one was the Icomp one....the other may be Icomp too. Similar as demolition says, I have had no success using the IDEFix97 hardware with CF cards. Simply doesn't see the cards (different sizes and brands). However, using a CF to SD adapter with an SD card, works fine!
