My apologies to all, that I may have been confused.
It seems that this site is mainly set up as a trading or sales site.
Hence the name , Amibay...

My thought was that this was a site where you share ideas, talk. Which it surely is. But the site itself is set up to be a traders site. Excuse me for misunderstanding the complete idea of the site itself.

Though I realized trading or selling existed here... It was unclear to me that this was more of an informational forum. This is the greatest trading site on the net. What I do not want to do is really clog it up with rantings and discussions about problems and discussion.

The idea is to trade, my promise is to return when I am serious about purchasing items or trading and seeking. Which I am, but the main goal is to talk with like minded people. Share ideas, then discover together as friends.
Meet new like minded people.

It seemed to me I was expecting the Facebook of Amiga. Where this was most based upon friendships and discussion. Lesser based on buying, selling and trading.

Please understand I love this site. Want to be a part of it! People are very honest and the deals are extremely fair. With no riff raff! It's just I had to clarify what this site was about. My promise is to return once I am seeking more to trade. Thank you all for your kindness... This is one amazing place!

Hi,

We are somewhat unique in that we have a foot in both camps, so you can buy and sell stuff and get tech support and advice for the items as well.

It was intended to be a trading site originally, however, the community has grown around it and I don't think we have an equal anywhere else on the web.

heh heh heh, this has been discussed before

yes it is a trading site, but there is the "General chat" area for discussions and natters, wat happened was the trading started and the friendships and community grew from that.
there was a time when the community was bigger than the trading side, but now a days the trading is a bigger part of the site than the chat side

As Chiark, Juv and Merlin have said already - i just want to echo that the site is absolutely both. I love it for it's uniqueness in that respect. I love browsing the site to see what Juv's latest chat topic is or what FitzSteve has been up to lately with whatever awesome projects he's embarked on or to see what amazing feat of soldering Zetr0 has done. I also love seeing kit appear for sale that I either want or didn't even know existed (and subsequently I want lol). It's also awesome for getting sound advice.

I'm here much more often than Facebook or eBay so I guess that says something.

Cheers

J

It is the best of both worlds, but the difference is it does not support unwanted stuff found elsewhere. Have a look at the rules, and you understand.

You can sell a C64 for the price of house and nobody will comment. Another feature that is missing, is that the chanche sombody spoils a thread is low.:D Yes you have some famous hackers on here there is also hardware focus and also Merlin and others with Retrobright.

These day's while our beloved stuff is getting older it is a plus to learn more about hardware or to have a solution for ugly yellowed cases.

Yup, this is what we are about on here.

If it's retro computer or colsole related and you want to hack it, pimp it, fix it, upgrade it, restore it, buy it, sell it, discuss it, show of pictures of it, ask questions about it or whatever, then this is the place for you.

The sheer levels of knowledge, experience and all-out, full-on awesomeness that our members have, has to be seen to be believed....
