And I cannot get a buddha to use a CF for a hard drive in the A2000.
I have a sandisk 512MB, a Transcend 4GB and a Kingston 16GB and none work. I have a generic CF IDE card reader attached to port IDE 0 and IDE 1. I tried master, slave, and everything in between. I changed the device in HD toolbox to buddha_atapi.device. I have tried to format the card using WinUAE.

I don't know what to do. This is making me reconsider my Amiga dream computer.

Help, anyone? I'm at my wit's end and ready to sell off all this stuff.

Chris

What does it mean "the card reader is crap?" I have tried two, granted both are generic models, but different (one has master/slave the other doesn't). Both card readers attached to the golden gate uses when the CF card is formatted for PC.

OK, so I broke down and purchased Individual Computer's TrueIDE adapter from a reputable dealer. We'll see if this gets me any further. I'm hopeful (said that before )

Unfortunately, the True IDE CF reader also did not work. Tried with 3 different CF cards.
Anyone, please help, or is a CF with a Buddha in an A2000 never going to work? If there is a better place for this post, moderators, please feel free to move it. I do not think it is possible to use a CF as a hard drive in the A2000 with a Buddha. I would LOVE if someone can prove me wrong!

Thanks,
Chris

I've got a Buddha and it is totally flakey.

It will work one minute and not the next. It doesn't seem to matter what is plugged into it!!!

Have you tested it with a HD or CD?

Hi Davideo,
Yes, good point, I should have mentioned that my buddha recognizes both a 512MB IDE drive and a CD drive.
I might look into the Acard option and run it off the SCSI bus. Maybe that is my next project.

Thanks,
Chris

I can't remember if it was the Buddha or the Tandem card but one of them needed a software patch to work with CF cards.

Are you using the latest software?

I just wanted to reply to the thread that I got an ACARD AEC-7720U SCSI to IDE bridge to work with a 4GB Transcend CF card and generic CF reader! It is running off the 2060 Blizzard SCSI bus. It was a snap to set up and format. In my experience, this was a much easier solution for a CF hard drive than the Buddha for the A2000. Thanks for your replies!

Might want to setup IDE Fix first and then give it a go, before you chuck it out all.
