I ordered one from Amigakit but it keeps crashing on both my A500 & A500+ so I'm looking for one that will work in either.

I've tried the rom in my A600 and it works perfectly so must be a problem with the roms (I ordered two of them)

Cheers!

I've read about several people who are having problems with the roms you get from AmigaKit. This is another situation where the cheap, unlicensed versions are actually better.

I also have one from AmigaKit which for some reason stopped working in my 600, however it still works fine in my 500+..

ask for a refund, as I did, as it did not work either on mine. You'll have to send it back and cough up the shipping costs yourself though.

I've been having a look and yeah looks like I'm not the only one and it's been happening for a while, I'm really annoyed (could say something else but won't) as I purchased another 500+ as I figured it was the machine that was the problem as I fixed it from a bad battery leak but it the same problem with the other 500 plus.

It's surely time they stopped selling 3.1 rom chips for the A500/500 plus that clearly won't work with them!

seems solution I heard from someone here who had an eprom writer is to swap "some bytes in code from ORIGINAL 3.1 rom" (?). That one works fine on a rev5/rev6 A500+A600+A2000.

nope,, UK law states (no out of pocket) so the seller has to cough up and refund the full cost including P&P charges in addition to the return P&P (email or insert a photocopy of a receipt from the post office should suffice). some sellers will send a pre-paid return envelope for you to return the goods free of charge.

"any business seller are obliged by the Distance Selling Regulations to pay return p & p on faulty items."

Hmm. that's interesting, the other bay is full of "buyer pays return postage" I wonder what would be the out come if you quoted UK law to them?

ebay/paypal will not enforce this law (even though it IS LAW)

Any business in the UK knows not to mess about with Distance Selling Regulations and Amigakit is a business.

individual sellers / personal stuff does not fall under this rule.

UK law, naturally, only affects companies in UK ;). Other countries have different laws and it's VERY good question what happens when buyer and seller are in different countries. I suspect that often it'll be cheaper to swallow S&H price rather then try to go to court in these cases.

on Amigakit's website it stated "All sales within the UK and EU comply with the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013"

they are based in the UK and so is the buyer.

but more importantly adding a long line of terms & conditions means diddly squat, they cant enforce them,

its like saying BMW says I can drive at 100mph anywhere but UK law say otherwise, they cant get out of the "Distance Selling Regulations" no matter what they put in the small print.

Just to note, I've never had a problem with Amigakit. I would sooner buy my Amiga stuff from them any time.

@OP

I would contact AmigKit and ask about a replacement or any work around for your A500/+.

in my case I did pay out of my pocket the return costs, but instead of then asking for a refund, I asked to get a free copy of EasyNet Pro. So only a few quid lost in the process. No big deal. AmigaKit was not making a fuss out of it, so I cannot complain about them.
