I know ROM switchers exist.

Just wondering if there is such a thing that literally plugs into the 30 year old socket on the Amiga mainboard and provides a new connector to put ROMs on and off easier, and if it breaks we just replace it?

Either a standard socket or one of the ones where you move an arm and it grips the pins, similar to a CPU socket on a PC.

There's gotta be something? If not, someone should make it.

Any ideas?

I'm thinking something like this.

Would this work?

Might order some and find out!

Zif societ

I ordered ZIF sockets earlier. If my calculations are correct they should plug straight in to the existing DIP socket.

We shall see.

Then Amigakit can start selling them for 30 quid each 🤣🤣🤣

Now you are learning to buy from proper resellers 🤣🤣🤣

Yes, Chris Edwards over on his YouTube channel put those into a test A500 board.

They didn't fit. About 2mm too wide. Damn.

Off to see if I can build an adapter.

Would anyone else be interested in one?

ZIF sockets are great for this sort of thing but they do take a lot more space on the PCB than standard sockets. They are also considerably taller so might be ok in an adaptor board if you have the height to spare.
