Yeah, got the update too.

Not happy he bumped up the price for the Transparent version. :(

Unless I'm misreading it, it's only $5 more. That can easily be caused by the different material. We mold our fascias (bumpers) here. And I thank my lucky stars every day that I am not assigned to Polymers (it's a PITA). Not that the Body shop was a picnic tonight...

I'm glad he added those extra cases - I just ordered a white, a beige and a transparent one. :)

I'm thinking you might be right about using the different material. Probably more expensive for those clear. Reminds me the clear casing they have for Typerwriters and other electronics used in Prisons.

So now if you get sent to prison, finally there is a way to have a C64 in there. :)

I'm dying to find out how you know about this. :)

I did some construction work at the medium security prison in Canon City, Colorado in the 80's. The previous apprentice had been told by an inmate to either bring drugs with him the next day, or don't come back. He chose option #2. So I got sent in the next day. When I was told to bring in drugs, I told the guy no, because I didn't want to be in there for the same reason as him. He didn't bring it up again.

That experience paid off years later when I was being interviewed for a position as an electronics instructor at a technical college. When I was asked if I could handle an adverse environment, I told the interviewer about working at the prison.

He said that was good since all of my students were parolees (Great students btw!).

I've seen a few up close. :shhh::whistle:

But the good news is, I get to go home every night! :arms

I will PM you. I would like to hear more about your teaching. :D

You are correct that it's only $5 more but so is the beige one so I think the different material argument goes out the window. :) Oh well. I'll get the ones that I like and be happy with them. I'm not going to worry about the transparent or beige.

Nope! I think I was mistaken. I was looking at the original update that I received in email. He showed an example with the clear case and I thought that was the price for the beige and transparent. rootboy's statement is the most likely reason why the clear is more expensive. :)

over $85K, maybe he'll be encouraged to do the 128s now as well :)

(3 days left...)

He received a cease and desist letter from the current Commodore name holder so he removed any mention of Commodore from the campaign. Not surprising, but he still gets to produce the actual units. :)

hadn't read the comments in a while...

that probably puts an end to that, won't likely want the headache doing the 128s & Plus4s

i only read that he had the c64c moldings, dont know where everyone is getting the other machines from?

from the facebook page...

briefly explained what I do, and he said there was something that he thought was cool- the molds for some old computers. I asked if I could see them because I really had no idea what they were. We walked to the back of the warehouse. In this dark corner, I realized these were the molds for the Commodore 64C, Commodore 128, and Commodore Plus 4. He told me he had a friend who might bid, and that he was interested in turning them into coffee tables. We talked a little more about them. I thanked him for showing me and I left.

the auction included the molds for all 3

Nope. He just had to remove all the Commodore references from his Kickstarter. He can sell them all day long but he cannot use the Commodore name for advertising them. :)

i hope so, i have 2 C128s, 1 of which needs a new case (and 1 key :/ ), and the other needs either a new case or a retrobright :P

i'd liked to have gotten a C64C case, but the one i have is only slightly yellowed, but otherwise is in perfectly good shape....i have toyed with the idea of just spraying and lacquering it...

I'm sure mostly everyone who backed the project has received the BackerKit survey in their email.

I was happy to see the poll about interest in a C128 Case. :)

Yeah.

Curious to see what colors he does for the C128.

Hope it isn't the same deal as C64c. Would like something different. Maybe a Golden, or Metallic, or Black Vader Edition.

Have a couple C128's, but only 1 case is pretty rough. So I would only need to back 1 color.

Unlike the 4 C64c I did.
