can you provide a photo of the bottom side of the assembled board? Or is there an assembly guide? I'm confused on how the socket fits in with the header pins.
It doesn't, from the first post in the thread "As the one made for the A500, you'll have to desolder the PLCC socket of the Amiga motherboard and solder the Megachip at its place."
I understand that part. The part that seems strange to me is the underside of the board. I would assume the pins of the PLCC socket would interfere with the header pins and the holes on the motherboard. That's why I asked for a photo of the underside assembled board so I could understand.
Arrived safely and positive feedback left.![]()
Arrived safely toolooking forward to fitting it ( PM sent though )
Hah. Now I see. The socket is offset from the headers underneath. Will this work with a 500/2000 that has 512mb on board chipram? Does it just bypass the onboard memory?
Are these still available? I would like to buy one. Ideally pre-soldered but can also do it myself if needs be.
Thanks
Lukeya
Interested in on kit if still available.
I'm possibly interested in two kits, but I need to know:
1 - Will it fit with a tf530 accelerator?
The Megachip works with all accelerator boards. Perhaps you'll need to add an intermediate socket between the motherboard and your tf530.
2 - Does it bypass the chip memory on the mainboard? So it doesn't matter if I have 512KB or 1MB ? I have a blank a2000 PCB and if I don't need to install any chip memory with this, that's great.
I'd be greatly interested in buying one assembled unit if still available. This item is actually the reason I signed up on Amibay![]()

Hello, are you any closer to building and shipping off orders in your other Megachip thread?
Hallo.
I´m interestin in one the Megachip assembled, and cleaned.
It came to me today. Excellent quality expansion !!
Now, is already running in my newly recaped a2000.
Many thanks Bro.
just thought id give additional feedback.
installed in my amiga 2000 with a 500+ agnus and its working great. no issues. Hardest part was removing the old socket ( which i had to butcher! )
A+ from me![]()
