Sold Korg X5DR - synth and GM midi module

I'm selling my Korg X5DR midi module. It's a fully-fledged synthesizer in a half-rack form factor, with built-in effects and a huge sound library. It's also GM compatible so you can use it for your favourite DOS games

It's in excellent condition and works perfectly. It comes with the original PSU.

Will this module work like SC-55 or SC-88? Does it need SoftMPU or some other software to work with DOS?

AFAIK it behaves like any other midi module. I thought SoftMPU was only relevant for the type of midi interface you use but not for the module? I've just tested it under Dosbox in DOOM and Descent, works perfectly. A very different flavour from the SC-55 actually

Hi.
If i can enlighten you, i have this one in my MIDI stack and like it.
This one doesn't need softmpu which is a software for emulation MPU-401 so-called intelligent mode meant only to have the Roland MT32 working properly with any soundcard.

It is a General MIDI device similar to Roland SC55 or Yamaha MU-90. It sounds differently from those two as it has its own set of Korg samples but has been an excellent addition to my polyphony (i usually run several MIDI devices at once). It reminds me of the 16 bits console era and i run it along my Roland SC55 or Yamaha MU-500.
