I like to play some games on C128 and I have 128DCR. Most of them are C64 games although a few like Ultima 5 offers enhanced content in 128 mode. Sadly after 30 years even the original disks are getting worn out and it's getting rather expensive to buy blank 5.25" floppy disks to make back up copes.
Emulator just aren't the same. The biggest gripe are the keyboard, PC keyboard doesn't match C64/128 layout.
I have seen a few solutions involving SD card as substitute 1541's but I am confused as to which can do what. I just would like a drop in replacement for 1541's or internal 1571. A way to load disk image in d64 form like a virtual disk that the 128 can see and load like a real disk. So which one is the right one?
Also can anyone refresh my memory on how to change the 128D's internal drive to use device 9, I'm sure there are jumper for it. That way the SD drive will be on as device 8 and some games that are hard coded to expect the disk to be in device 8 and would crash if I started loading from device 9, and it tries to load the rest of the data off an empty drive 8.
