Hey guys
I am all new here on Amibay so please don't bite my head off if i haven't found a specific post or thread just yet:drinkin:
I have an A1200 that i want to just upgrade a little bit here and there and on that note i got my hands on an M-Tec T1230LC Rev1.0 with 4MB on and an "MC68882FN33A" in the socket.....FPU??
Now i poked round the net and various sites containing info on my accelerator board shows that you can have 4/8MB version and all say "RAM Expansion = NO" but i figure that answer is related to the chips being soldered to the board and not meaning specificly that a 4MB can't be upgraded to an 8MB as there are pads on the back of the board that can have two more chips wich i assume is RAM
Searching on the 8MB version i can't see any difference picture-wise other then this board having chips on the back of the board also.
So my question is can my 4MB board be upgraded to an 8MB just be adding the two missing chips on the back or are the boards different in other places as well ?
I have searched for extra chips on the net with no real luck maby because i am NO expert on the chips themselves so i just googled by the numbers on the chips.
The chips on my 1230LC has these scribblings on them.
"F MALAYSIA"
"8118160A-60"
"9702 F27"
"PJ"
The closest i got was someone asking for replacement chips to a faulty mem-chip on an Mtec 1230LC.
Someone knowing obviously a lot more about the internals of these chips suggested a different chip that would work just the same.
He reffered to it as "tms418169dz" but that is way beyond my skillz as to what and why
The soldering i can do, ain't worried about that at all.
Been doing all kinds of console mods and hacks various phone repairs and other weird stuff for decades now, so i got skills and the right tools for that job.
But it's finding the right parts where my skilz don't match.
Tell me where to solder it and i get that done, but why it wire goes specifically there...no idea:huh:
I know nothing about which leg has what signal and why another type of chips will or will not work.
Anyone here who could help me out on wether it is possible to upgrade my board and with chips and things will do the trick
Uploaded a couple of pics just for reference.
