i killed my topgun 2 playing bang on mame yesterday
it made a Bleep bloop noise saying device was dissconnected.. I wiggled the usb lead and it went bleep bloop bleep bloop..
(usb lead was broken)
i dunno what els happend to it when i wiggled the wires probably managed to pump 5v up one of the data lines wiggeling it..
Spent like an hour stripping down the usb part (it splits to 3 connectors so i wanted to see if there was any resisters or anything in the split up part..
as far as i could tell
it was
Blue to blue
white to black (and a white wire that connected to the recoil enable wire male)
red to brown and to a red wire for the recoil)
green to green
and then sheild/ground wire..
looked straight forward enough.
I decided to play it safe and not solder white to black. or red to brown.
And just solderd those 2 to the recoil enable cable.
And everything els matched up.
well it didnt detect new hardware when i pluged it in..
so i connected recoil function wires together and it detected new device but it had an error..
So i went and solderd red to brown and black to white..
then it did detect a new device but it still had an error..
I may sit down with it later. and examine my possibilities.
but i think its fried
i have 7 wires for a 5 pin connection lol. I KNOW 2 of them are + and - 5v for the recoil. and i know they are red and white.
and i can also see from the remnance of whats left of the wiering mess they had encased in epoxy that A white wire connects to black and a red wire connects to brown.
Which again makes sence +5 should be the red. and Ground is black.
but its strange because i dont see any reason for the usb side to have 7 wires
usb side should be
Red, Black, green, blue, sheilding..
they should connect to the same wires on the other end.
Brown and white should connect to the Male Adapter for the recoil (gun side)
and then the female adapter (usb side) should connect to red and black..
There is no reason to have 7 stinking wires on the usb connection side. and they are messing with my damn head lol..
i think i am going to have to strip the whole things down to its pcb's
follow the dumb traces to the recoil motor. and see what colour wires connect to that.
Strip the outer casing completley off the usb cable and follow the wires down
then replace the whole lot with a usb cable (only 5 stinking wires, so no recoil function)
And then see if it detects it.
If it does then who knows i may add some extra weight to the slide and throw in a 9v battery for the recoil.
See fi i cant break my own wrists when im playing a game lol.
Sigh.
i really liked that gun 2

Mame is no fun without it.
