MAME problem with Galaga

I'm sure I had this problem ages ago and someone gave some help on here...?

but...

I have tried every Rom of Galaga in loads of different versions of Mame on my PC but I cant get it to work!

Does any one have the same problem, advice, guidance...etc...

I am not asking for Roms or where to get them!

Just wondering if my best bet is to download a much older version of MAME and then get a matching Galaga Rom for it but I have tried a few older versions and the same problem occurs... anyone know of a MAME Rev that actually works with this game?

Nice bit of software - thanks but it doesn't like the Galaga Roms I have :-(

That's too bad. Did you audit them, to see what's wrong? It's been a while since I fuddled in Mame.

If I get chance tonight I will test the game for you and see. I can't remember ever having problem with Galaga though. I also have MAME Rom sets dating back to the earliest releases, plus there were some older emulators that ran it (their code was later merged into MAME). So I'm sure we can find you a working version somehow.

Not perfect but I found a version (Mame32 0.106) that seems to run loads of older arcade games so I am sticking with it for problem games - Galaga working!!

I also use an older version of Mame for similar reasons. Also on my Netbook (1.66ghz) newer versions run too slow, so if you have an older computer then an older version of Mame is recommend.
