Hi. I have an old games console, Mattel Electronics Intellivision master component with 14 games that I would like to sell. Looking on ebay they seem to go from the sublime to the ridiculous! It has been professionally tested and is working. Can anyone advise what this may be worth please?

It is really up to you to decide on how much you want to sell it for.

From the rules:
Asking for Estimates

In a similar fashion, asking members and or/staff on Amibay for the estimated worth of an item is a no-no, there is so much that could go wrong with this strategy that could end up starting a flame war, when you are just trying to help. The main reason is that what one might pay for an item where there are an abundance of said items, would be much cheaper than other locations on the globe where the same item could be rarer, thus prices would have to reflect that.

Asking for a value for an item is also a form of indirect price driving and may attract both public and private bidding, which is against the ethos of AmiBay. You will generate more respect from?buyers and members?if you do your homework and ask a fair price in the first place; asking for an estimate of the value of an item from Amibay staff will result in your request being declined; similarly, requests asking the same from members will be removed and deleted.

Sorry, didn't mean to cause offence. I am new to this, the shop that tested it for me suggested I came here for advice. I will unregister. I wasn't expecting this to be an auction site, just friendly people who might be able to advise. Sorry again.

The shop who suggested you come here to ask how much the console would be worth has given you bad advice unfortunately. We are unable to to offer any advice because price discussions in the open forum is strictly prohibited.

If you put the item into an auction on eBay's market place the market will ultimately decide on what the item is worth. You can sell the item here on Amibay as long as you follow the rules. You c an not list something as "open to offers." , you must put a fixed price, you can however, declare a price and then state, "or near offers". You are under no obligation to accept a lower offer.

Take a look at the rules https://www.amibay.com/help/terms/

If you need any further help any member of staff would be happy to help. (y)

Understood. Just was a bit taken aback by the initial terse response. Will now leave this site if I can figure out how.

Just because you've been reminded of the rules doesn't mean you have to leave the forum.

We're a friendly bunch but we do have to follow the rules.

You can use the search facility on here to see if any have been sold before or are for sale.

Failing that go for a price that you'd be happy to sell it for.

The market will then decide if the price is right.

Welcome, and we'd love to have you stay! You're welcome to list your items for sale here--just set whatever price you feel is appropriate and you can adjust it if need be. We just have a rule against soliciting for advice about pricing.

ebay listings can still be of some use.

what you actually need to do is go to the 'advanced search' and click on 'sold listings'

a search of this gives me 6 pages (last 3 months) of 'Intellivison system' results (though not all Intellivsion systems (perhaps 20-25%), there's a bunch of flashbacks (excluding 'flashback' drops it to 2 pages) and other things), with -most- of them in a reasonable range.

it is the ridiculous listings that don't sell...

(my general rule of thumb is to find a few of the systems that match closely what you have, in the same general condition, and use the lower priced examples to find a 'value')
