Hi,

I've got hold of a Z4 case which has a bog standard 1200 with 3.1 kick :)

I know I'll need a processor upgrade first but assuming I find one, are any of you running a setup like this and would you recommend it, are Elbox a good company to deal with etc?

My plan would be to run a Radeon, USB,network card and hopefully a capture card.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Elbox is not the best at supporting the user, but the Amiga community is.

Just drop the idea of using Elbox USB as it does not have USB stack software. The USB board Darek is selling is only useful as a door stop.

Get a Subway USB for the clockport and use the Mediator for all the rest. The lan is pretty good, as is using a Radeon 9250. 192 to 240Mb "for free" extra FAST RAM is good. Notice you'll not have WARP3D support for Radeons.

thx rkauer, I've just checked and the only USB that works on Elbox kit is the spider card right? Thats pretty stingy, locking it down so you can only use 1 card.

Yes I saw what you can do with the RADEON, looks very cool!!

I don't even know what WARP3D is so .... :D

The Spider does not have a working USB software, don't waste your time and money with it.

The Subway is hooked on the A1200 clockport and there it makes wonders for the A1200.

I personally, have never had a problem with Elbox, though they don`t respond very quickly to emails. You can no longer buy the driver for the Spider USB card, so as RKaur suggests, get a subway.

Having said that, the TX Mediator is really good, giving 6 PCI slots. You can have both Radeon & Voodoo cards installed, the Radeon giving huge memory, the Voodoo WArp3D.

Sound cards & NICs are easily bought from Amibay (or the other Bay) and work well. There is no better way to upgrade an A1200, and is a good choice for the A4000 as well. I`m happy ;)

I'm doing a deal with anagrama for his mediator which is the SX version, looking forward to getting this setup now, I just need to find a nice RADEON :)
