2 * Alfa Data automatic mouse/joystick switchers. One of them needs a new cord, though. I am considering mounting longer cables for them, and I just ordered them now. Could be a project, but a simple mod I would do on my own (maybe even before the meetup). Would anybody like to see the "operation"?
These have been fixed now, so they are ready for the meetup. It was a little more complicated than expected as I was sacrificing a null-modem cord for the operation instead of an extension cord. In short, do not use null-modem for joystick/mouse ports ;)

tbtorro: Are you going to bring your soldering equipment? Solder sucker/wick, iron, solder, flux (if not in solder), multimeter, different screwdrivers, third hand or similar?

Getting close...

I will be leaving for sealand early tomorrow morning, so if anybody wants me to bring something special, they should probably write it here soon.

I plan on bringing:

A500 (+PSU) with RAM expansion and a replaced floppy drive (doesn't detect disk swap).

A1200 (+PSU) with Blizzard 1230-IV card fitted with 16MB Fast RAM and a harddrive with Classic WB, my old graphics, modules and registered WHDLOAD with loads of demos and stuff.

RGB scart cable.

Black Amiga brand mouse.

2 * The Arcade joysticks with microswitch button.

My modded Alfa Data automatic mouse/joystick switchers.

CD32 (the one with flaky sound), PSU, original joypad, Competition Pro (Honey Bee) joypad, svhs cable with scart adapter. Pinball Fantasies to test with.

Stuff I can bring if anybody requests it:

CD32 fully working.

Quickjoy III - Super Charger joystick

The Cobra (26799) joystick

Wico Command Control Redball joystick

Slick stick joystick

Zip Stik joystick (one-button version with grip handle)

Amitech Silent Drive external floppy drive

Unknown brand external floppy drive

Vidi Amiga 12 video digitizer

Sound sampler (brand unknown - looks a lot like Amitech)

Stuff I can bring if anybody wants to buy/swap:

Motorola 68000 processor chips

Paul chips

Gary chips

Denise chips

Stuff I would like to buy/swap with:

Indivision AGA (A1200)

Kickstart 3.1 roms (A1200)

PSX adapter for DB9 computers

HxC Floppy emulator

All packed up and ready. I won't be bringing any soldering equipment as there was no demand for it (sorry KTC). I don't own a car and my bike trailer already full. I'll bring my A600HD and attempt to mod it on the spot with my ACA630, A603 and Indivision ECS + CF drive solution with WHDLoad. I've been pushing this project front of me I think this could be good time to do it, and get help if something comes up.

But I threw one multimeter in the pack just in case for quick troubleshooting jobs.

See you guys at noon. /tbt.

Im on my way now on train, so see you all there! Its gonna be propa good ah tell thee! :-D

Indeed, I love a good waffling especially about Amigas. Unfortunately I often forget myself and outwaffle others  (but Phips is a strong contender too ) just too excited to share stuff and want to say everything.. I think KTC got an extra dose, since he dropped by my place after the event (sorry about that K.) But I hope at least half of it was interesting..

Anyway, thanks guys really, finally I have a nice WHDLoad setup, after buying the licence 6 years ago..

yea mate les can beat you glad you got whdload done and the main thing you had fun

YES! I AM WAFFLE KING! I go off so much that I end up asking YOU WTF I originally started talking about :D HAHA!

It was a great meet and we all got on instantly. There is always a wonder how people that have never met will get on, and there was no worries, it was a bit like we knew eachother already. We all talked a bit at first, then started drinking beers and then GAMES GAMES GAMES! Troels 2x linked up A500's really reminded me about what Amiga was (and is). GOOD FUN! We had the best times playing 4 and 5 player games on that setup. I wasn't the best player but still had great fun. :)

Oh, and "Why are we all in 5th place?" myself (And later tbtorro) comment on when playing 4 player Lotus :D (total n00bz)

I wish I could have stayed over till Sunday but alas I had family commitments, and to be honest I was totally worn out by the time I left at 10pm. Total light weight I know! :D But next time i'd like to have a full weekend to get the most out of the meetup.

Anyway, Here are my photos: -

"This game is awesome" I'm guessing what KTC it saying :D

DSC_0227.JPG

KTC's A1200, he has lots of cool sound mods he's made himself. We had good chats about how my son could get into using a tracker. Here he is using DOPUS, its awesome, basically.

DSC_0229.JPG

tbtorro is going to put his ACA030 into his A600... later he found he forgot the mounting screws  I hope you now got it sorted now mate :)

DSC_0230.JPG

KTC admires my beastly machine. It didn't get as much action as the A500's, but everyone liked to see it.

DSC_0231.JPG

Off to get BEER! (TroelsDK, KTC, tbtorro and Michael). tbtorro has just flipped his hat tails up hee hee :)

DSC_0232.JPG

4 Player Lotus! (I had the poo poo wee wee joystick)

DSC_0233.JPG

Gotta love it!

DSC_0234.JPG

tbtorro offers "lucky dip". We all had to take something from the bag and it could be nice. the deal was we HAD to use what we got........

DSC_0237.JPG

Troels got a handy 2.5" hdd cable, and a bag full of games and stuff.

KTC with his lucky dip bag.

Here's mine, it has Weird Science anims CD, Sadeness AGA expericence 1 CD, Bograts on Disk, Burnout on disk, 2x 68000 sockets and an A500+ Ram expansion board. we all pretty much got similar stuff. I was very happy with AGA experience 1 and the sockets and Burnout. :)

This was a really nice gesture of tbtorro to offer this, it was great fun and we all got some nice free goodies. :) Thanks mate! :)

DSC_0240.JPG

Troels and tbtorro talk about which A500 this RAM expansion can go in. Its possibly only A500+ as it doesn't have the RTC components on. thats ok though!

DSC_0241.JPG

Hooking up Troels A1200, its in need of a good fixing! Me and KTC lend hand and get it clean booting WB 3.0.

DSC_0242.JPG

Later another of Troels friends, Kim (right), joins in the fun. He's been using an A500 (again) for 6 months. Here's him and Michael playing Super Cars II :)

DSC_0243.JPG

5 Player Dyna Blaster! YAAAY! And we are all quite merry by now (I was getting very tired though, i'm such an old guy!!)

DSC_0244.JPG

KTC is champ! :)

DSC_0245.JPG

More Dyna Blaster :)

DSC_0246.JPG

"GET BLUE GET BLUE" (KTC) as he was always winning! I think on this particular match Red won (Kim).

And soon after that I packed up and left... whooosh! It all went so quickly! But a GREAT blast! Looking forward to the next time :)

Cheers! :arms:pint::drinkin::beer:

ANOTHER DANE JOINS! :D Next time mate! :) I think we talked about trying to meet up every month or 2. If it gets to be quite alot of people we will have to think of another place than Troels. Its good for the 6 we had, perfect infact, maybe another couple of folks could come without hardware, but any more and we need to think of renting a bigger venue.

But if it takes off then we'll go for it! :D

The Party '12 :D

Wow. What an incredible weekend this was.
You are always a bit nervous when you drive from one end of the country to the other to meet up with total strangers. But this is Amiga, so how wrong could it go :D

After the long trip, entering Troels' apartment set the mood right away. The title music from Lotus Turbo Challenge 2 was playing on a couple of Amiga 500's, connected to good old CRT TV's.
I was greeted by Troels (TroelsDK) and Les (Phipscube) and as Les mentioned, it was like we knew each other right away. No awkward silences or anything, just unfiltered sharing of Amiga experiences and history.
I went straight for Les' beast of an Amiga 1200, and it is truly a work of art, that one. He even improved it further from the stuff he posted here, but I will not spoil that here .

After a short while, Michael came a long and he went straight for Lotus with Troels while Les and I were still talking about his Amiga stuff and messing about with my setup.

Then TbTorro came along and, shortly after introducing himself, announced that be brought a bag of lucky-dips for everybody - what a nice gesture!

We went for some supplies, and then the gaming truly began. We played Lotus 2 in 4 player link mode, and as Les mentioned, many of us were fooled by the gear display and mistook it for the race positions . "Why is everybody in 5th place?" - we all had a bit of a laugh on that one  But to our defense the game really doesn't tell you clearly who is ahead

Kim came along, and the others played some Supercars II while Les and I tried to make Troels' Amiga 1200 boot up the Workbench. The lucky dips came in handy as the LEDs were busted on Troels' Amiga 1200, so the spare LED board from one of the lucky-dip bags got installed instead. It is always nice to see an Amiga rise from its sickbed like that :).
Then we booted up Dynablaster in 5-player mode! Troels has a 4-player adapter and with a player on keyboard, the 5-player versus mode of this game can really compete with the later revisions of the Bomberman (Bomberman=Dynablaster) franchise.

Then we played some Micro Machines 2 on the Super Nintendo, just to remind us how awesome the Amiga really is, compared to other systems
This was great fun too, but after a short while, the Amigas were connected again, playing a lot of the classic games.
Kim and I played one of my favorite games, Speedball 2, and we beat each others players up pretty well. This game is one of those classics that never gets old.

Beers, waffeling and gaming went on into the night, even though TbTorro and Phipscube had to leave after a while.

Sunday was spent messing around with both hardware and software. Troels' Amiga 1200 was set up with a ClassicWB installation and TbTorro returned to feed his Amiga 600 with an accelerator and an Indivision ECS that unfortunately didn't want to play with us on that day anyway.
One of Troels' Amiga 500's was in bad shape as it needed ROMS and was unstable. We bugtracked it and found out that the internal power plug was acting up. Troels was very motivated and took the motherboard out, and then I resoldered the connector, restoring the machine to a perfect working state

ClassicWB and WHDLoad was installed on TbTorro's Compact Flash, so now he can finally utilize the registration key he bought many years ago. To test it out, I demonstrated how to install games and TbTorro brought a perfect candidate to test with: A "little" game called Simon The Sorcerer, which came on "only" 9 floppies :wooha:
Oh well, we gave it a shot and prayed that all the old disks would still work. Only one of the disks gave us read errors, but after clicking retry three times, it actually pulled that weak sector from the disk

After eating some pizza, we packed up and I went to TbTorro's place to pick up a spare keyboard for my Amiga 1200 and a floppy drive and browse his extensive stock of retro goodies. This ended up being a like trip to a retro museum, booting up old laptops with Windows 3.1 and seeing stuff I didn't even know existed. The waffling-factor was indeed high, also on my part, and I ended up leaving a lot later than expected, only arriving home a while into the night. But to be honest, I have no problem trading some sleep with experiencing all the great stuff that we retro collectors treasure.

This weekend was truly a perfect mix of gaming, modding, talking, drinking and admiring retro stuff - it was by far worth the long drive and bridge toll for me!

We set the bar pretty high this time, but lets meet up again sometime and do this again. If we keep up this level of quality, we might even end up reviving The Party :D

Nice pictures there Phipscube! :)

It was really a great weekend, can't wait till next time!
KTC finally managed to install Workbench Classic with a lot of WHDLoad games, so I've started to go through them to sort them out.

And also remember, that all of you are always welcome to stop by for a beer and a beating in a game of your choice... :D
