Hi!

I need some help from you guys.. I have a melody pro for A1200 and I was wondering if I could connect it to the X-surf (that have 2 clockports) I have on my A4000.
I have done the connection.. the Amplifier (mp3 player) detects the melody... also configured in AHI, but I have no sound... not even the pass trough from Paula...

The configuration is the same I have no A1200 (same cf card), so why could this be happening?
Does anyone have this configuration working? should I have another drivers?

Thanks!

I think you would only need another driver if the clockport you are using is not set to the default A1200 clockport address ($d80001).

According to the amigakit page for the clockport expander, the Melody cannot work at a different clockport address so I guess its driver is limited in that respect.

Now, according to the Xsurf wiki
"The driver software for A1200 expansions only has to be modified in some details in order to make the add-ons work with the X-Surf. There are no conflicts between the ports already present in the system (A1200, the four clock-ports of the Z4 board or the Buddha Flash port) and the new clock-ports of the X-Surf - they all can be used at the same time."

which implies none of the two ports lies at the default address.

So it seems, unless the driver is suitably modified, you're out of luck.

Thanks for you reply.. that was what I though ... drivers... but you gave me a clue.. let's see if anyone already have done that :)

Yes.. I start and try all the possible options (I know the right one because It works with the a1200 clockport)
I used those drivers, but I have a problem in one of the clockports of xsurf.. maybe it only works in the other port...

Melody Pro A1200 (clockport) with X-surf

Hi,

only options I could think of:
- try the other Clockport on the XSurf.
- try another Clockport device on the (supposedly) not-working Clockport
- try the Melody on a different device, e.g. a 68k-Clockport (need to edit the driver, though)
- swap the Melody for a Delfina :D. If running, the Delfina is the better card, it just doesn't work in all systems.

The thing that puzzles me in your setup is that the melody is identified by amplifier. I have one MP1200, too, and in case the driver or the card doesn't work it will not find a card in amplifier. Plus, when running Melody Mixer it would tell you if the card is detected or not. In case you don't get error messages when running the mixer there seems to be something wrong. In worst case the analog part is defect, e. g. when connecting both boards with the wrong orientation of the cable or leaving out a pin row.

If it works on the other clockport you might want to contact iComp. Or use the other CP ;) .

Cheers,
McT
