Calling @roy_bates

So my Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2070sb CRT has this weird issue of after a while of running the screen fades to black.

The picture on this CRT before this happens is freaking amazing so would love to know where to look and get this fixed.

I feel it is heat related because it happens after its been on for a while, timing when this happens however are never the same.

When it happens if I turn it off and back on the screen is back to normal but will usually fade to black after a minute or two.

Also sometimes if I bang the side of the monitor this also restores the picture but again after a few minutes it will fade to black.

If I leave it off for a while I usually get a few hours of usage out of it again.

I have attached the Service & User manual for the monitor if that helps any

Roy, If you think you can fix it can you come to Portsmouth to do it, because this monitor is so fricking heavy :ROFLMAO:

mate you know im not comming to frigging portsmouth to look at it,hahaha

can you confirm the picture does come back after hitting it?

i'll look at it,but youll have to bring it to me and suffer the horror of lifting the thing, yes i know how heavy it is

oh you said its random, and comes back for a little bit and goes again
so,ill take it the time its on is random in length as well, not great
intermittant faults are the worst

Oh you sure you don't wanna come down lol

Yep usually the picture does come back if hit in a certain place

Yes it might not do it at all on some days, sadly the monitor has been opened before because the case is not in the best of condition

where you hitting it? it might matter

it doesnt matter when you come ,im busy all week anyway

yeah i would agree it could be heat related, but that suggests a cold solder joint somewhere which means stripping the thing for inspection
you know what its going to be li8ke chasing a intermittant fault, its not fun

Yeah it is no rush, I will need to see when Katy wants to go and see her mum and drop it off to you then so I will give you notice when I'm looking to come up to you. it would be on a weekend maybe in October time (I need this amount time to get it down )

I hope it can be saved knowing my luck it wont do it when its with you .

I'm hitting it on top or the side but sometimes hitting it, don't always work.

you wouldnt be the only one,did you see the other thread?

yeah it doesnt matter when you bring it

oh by the way, just for deffinition really, when you say it fades to black, does it go straight to black or litrually fades as it the brightness goes, yeah it would be hard to say,or even film
or does the picture cut off without loosing sync

When it does, its like it starts slowly fading to black from top to bottom its hard to explain there might be a flicker of black before this happens it is hard to film because it doesn't happen instantly and has I said it can take a while before it does it.

If I get a chance to mess in the mancave I will see if I can get a recording of it because when it does happen it will usually keep happening until I let it cool down

i tell you what dont bother incase this tempts fate, when you bring it i wont bother leaving it on,i'll strip it completly for inspection

and youll have to come back another day for pickup, like i say intermittant faults are a pain

Yes I understand, I can use the one that is showing up in the similar threads below. so I can leave it with you for a while.

Making my way up to the land of Roy with this CRT this weekend, so if you are behind a slow Volvo S40 tomorrow its me driving slow because I don't want to damage it

My boss ( 76 still bossing ) says if you get on a motorway with a traffic jam or very slow moving traffic it’s probably him at the front. 😀

i would understand why his moving so slow, youll see when i start updating the thread ,wont give anything away at the moment

he'll probably have a bad back as well,i might from offloading this end 😅

this has been dropped off, along with a few others

there is one ill be looking at first as the back is already off it,he knows which one that is
i will have to go through them, one at a time,or two at a time as i make room for them

i dont think it really matters which one is first or last

When Roy says a few it was nine CRT's in total (Sorry Roy) but I thought its a bit of a drive so best make the most of it hopefully we get some success with these

i have to add,and i dont want to give too much away there are a couple that are interesting as you wont see many of that make and model very often if at all

but i'll proably do damage assessment, and concentrate on the dead ones first or badly faulty ones and go from there
as they will probably mean ordering parts of available
they all faulty in degrees of dead onwards
