Hi Guys
I knew I sold my old Indi and Cyberstorm too soon damn it!!! got my nice new shiny ZZ9000 all worked great now it wont allow the A4000 to boot, as soon as it is removed no problem machine runs perfect again, all be it via an onld 19inch lcd TV on scart. I have two questions:

1. Has anyone else had this type of problem
2. what is the best way to setup the SD card in the ZZ9000 by that I mean is there an SD Prep or do I just use windows Disk Manager? If I do use Windows what are the Partitions set to and what is it formated in IE Fat, Fat32, NTFS.

Thanks Guys

My A4000T won't boot with the ZZ9000 as it has ZIII issues, so I switched to the latest ZII firmware.

I didn't bother reformatting the card, just swapped the firmware that was already on the SD card for the newer version.

If no SD / firmware is detected, at least on my A4000T the power light will flash continuously.

Hi, I downloaded the latest firmware and added it to the SD card root directory. I didn’t have to format the card but would imagine it’s FAT32.

With the card installed and no software installed yet in Workbench, it output the display to my connected monitor via HDMI.

If you have the card installed and remove any drive (e.g CF card), do you get the Workbench purple insert disk screen?

Hi Guys thanks for the Help I stripped my machine of all but the Cyberstorm 2 and she booted fine then built her back up without the ZZ9000 again booted fine to Scart just sprayed the slots with electrical cleaner just in case its a bad contact so will try her again in an hour or so. I have formated the SD card with Fat32 and put the firmware back on her so will see if that sorts the problems or not.

Sharing my experience with the ZZ9000 that might help other Mediator Users on here:
If you are using the ZZ9000 in a Mediator Setup the following works for me (thanks to Elbox support):
ZZ9000 in 3rd or 2nd Z3 slot from above, not directly the one with the Video slot (1st one in my case).
Push the Video Card in the first, the Z3 Board in the 2nd or 3rd.
DON'T use SWAP Config on Mediator Logic Board.
Keep your PCI GFX Card Driver in Devs:Monitors to have full PCI functionality and make use of e.g. soundcards.

That way the card works great under 3.1.4 with Cyberstorm PPC/060 and Voodoo3
Still some trouble to get it running under OS4 though.

I had one but it refused to work with an Elbox bus board so I sent it back for a refund.

I had some issues running the card with a mediator in a a4000t and Cyberstorm PPC. The solution advised was to put ‘any’ Zorro card in the slot above the Mediator which would allow it to boot. However I never got a black screen. In regards to SD card yes it is FAT32. The card supplied with mine was 128mb card. I think latest version is something like 1.6.x firmware.

I can confirm that zz9000 at the moment only works with a Prometheus third-party busboard with a second zorro card in place. For me it doesn’t seem to matter the order of the cards, so I leave the zz9000 in-line with the video slot and have a second zorro card at the top

No change still causes machine to fail to boot. I only wish i had the mediator again.

If I were you I’d logon to the mnt-Amiga irc channel on freenode and ask for support - the developers are all on there, it’s very active and they are happy to help trouble-shoot

Out of interest what firmware are you using? And to confirm you have downloaded the Zorro 3 firmware? Latest firmware I believe is 1.6.2

I had a problem with the supplied SD card and had problems with black screen/non booting. I put a sandisk card in (4gb I think) and it now works fine. I used fat32format.

OK now I am am well confused!!! I replaced the PSU last year because it was causing a ram issue with my Motherboard now it seems its the ATX psu that is not powering up the zz9000 replace it with a 500w atx and low and behold the machine runs with the ZZ9000. Anyone got any thoughts??

Modern power supplies tend to be weak on 5V iirc because most of the power draw in modern systems is on 3.3V and 12V. So your 500W don't mean much, you got to look at the specs for each voltage.

From http://www.ianstedman.co.uk/Amiga/amiga_hacks/Amiga_Power_supplies/amiga_power_supplies.html:

A4000
Information taken from A4000 PSU schematics
+5V 10.00A
+12V 4.00A
-12V 0.40A

A4000T
Information taken from A4000T specifications
+5V 25.00A
+12V 10.00A
-5V 0.30A
-12V 0.30A

Also some modern PSUs may require some minimum load on some lines ( +12V, 3.3V) to start or run properly. You may check if your PSU has specified minimum load in documentation. If so, it may not even start with Amiga.

LOL yep hoping so Tim arrived yesterday so now is the part where I make it fit just stripped my old 4000 psu and OOOOHHH it just might take the SFX without having to do any stripping of the new PSU will post pics once I have it figured out.

Well Guys after an eventful time I now have a New PSU and the ZZ9000 fixed with the cut line for over power to the FPGA working nice and fast and with a mister Heatsink nice and cool too.
