Hi,
My first Amiga was an A2000 that I bought at G.M.A. in Hamburg-Wandsbek. It replaced my Sharp MZ-821 and was long used with the CBM 2MB RAM expansion and dual floppy drives. I can't quite remember, but I think I skipped buying a HDD.
It got eventually replaced with A3000 in 1990. That was my work horse for studies, my first jobs (BBM, dcp), and a lot of BBS'ing well into the 90's using MPoint. It accompanied me to various places like islands and LAN-parties. The A2065 and uucp opened the door to what led me to become a webmaster and a 25-year career with content management systems.
Unfortunately the A3000 was sold in the late 90's, at quite a good price, I have to admit. The money was part of the budget for my SGI Indy, which I still own. It took me a while, but 20 years later I did miss my Amiga and gathered a bunch of parts which now make up a somewhat decent A3000 again with some usual modernizations like HDMI, SCSI2SD, gotek.
I'm quite proud that I was able to recover a couple of my QIC Tapes done with AmiBack of the time. One of the backups includes what once was the innoTEC1 BBS which I was one of the co-sysops back in time. I'm still to get that fully running again with a 9600 baud modem ... let's see when I find the time.
Not sure why I never joined this board... well, better later then never, right?
Aeroid
