I'm seriously thinking of remaking an A1000 keyboard, and it appears that they carry the MOS 6500-1 controller. My question is, does the 6500 come in various flavors? Is there a replacement alternative? I can't seem to find a spare one around the various known places...

Yes, the 6500/1 comes in various flavors: it is a microcontroller with factory programmed ROM. So each flavor could function completely differently.
The A1000 keyboard uses a 6500/1 which would be named either the 6570-33 (part number 328191-01) or possibly the 6570-36 (part number 328191-02).

Thanks for replying! This makes it difficult then, I'm attaching a pic of the chip, whish i could remember where i got it from, so as to give proper credit for it.
