Can anyone help please? I have several original copies of MS DOS 6.22 on 1.44mb 3.5" floppy, but I need a bootable MS DOS 6.22 disk with COMMAND.COM, FDISK, FORMAT and SYS files on in 720k format. A .img format file is fine as long as it is the 720k format version. Perhaps one of you kind folk would email it to me?

I am happy to pay for a version on disk (cost of the disk + postage) if no one has a .img file available.

Many thanks!

just format the disk at 720k, FORMAT A: /T:80 /N:9

then use sys a: command and manually copy the the files you need fdisk , sys and format ?

the "/s" command in format also copies the required system files.

you can also use HD-Copy to format/verify a diskette to 720kb (better tape that extra hole at the right side as well) and do as Sardine suggests above: sys a: then copy over the extra files you want and then you can re-use HD-Copy to make an .img file of the disc for future reference

edit:
forgot HD-Copy link: http://esca.atomki.hu/paradise/dos/hdcopy-en.html

Guys thanks. But where can I run SYS from? I only have Windows 10 PC. I can't run SYS from the CMD prompt to get a ms dos 6.22 boot disk. My original MS DOS 6.22 1.44mb disks are corrupted so I can't boot from these to create one.

I need the boot disk for an Atari PC3 which only has a 3.5" 720k floppy drive.

that's ok , if you already have a booting 6.22 machine.. you could make a new system disk.
do you have a running machine or do you need the actual floppy images ?
I have 6.22 if u need them.

sorry just checked my images, they are 1.44mb,

Unfortunately, I don't have a booting ms dos 6.22 machine. I can't seem to find any images online of bootable ms dos 6.22 disks in 720k format?

windows 95 rev B cdrom and up can boot to a command prompt (dos 7.0 though)

you can also get dos 6.22 bootable cdroms (google is your friend) then once your boot your windows 10 pc from cdrom and at a prompt you can create the required floppy disks (as long as you floppy drive is not USB)

ALSO not tried myself but can you run dos 6.22 from dosbox and still have access to a real floppy drive and then create there ??

I have a dos 6.22 machine but im in Merseyside

got everything setup and working here to make a 6.22 boot disk.

just cant find a 720K ,, ahhhhhh

^^ you dont need a 720k disk. just cover the HD tab with tape and force format as above FORMAT A: /T:80 /N:9 or FORMAT A: /T:80 /N:9 /S for system files copied over.

yar , I remembered about sticking a bit of paper in the 2nd hole on a 1.44, that confused it and let it format.
my latest issue is my floppy drive is an external USB type, as soon as I boot my image , it has no drivers to see the A: via usb.. grim

this may be an option if you can boot your CD drive

still working on it, setting up an old dell 745 and fitting a 3.5 floppy drive...

Thank you - very kind

well, I am sure you'll have to send it to him privately rather than make it freely available here, the OPs tend to frown on passing copyrighted material via the site, and I believe MS-DOS 6.00 and later are still under copyright by MicroSoft (well, actually just about all versions are, but if memory serves 5.0 and earlier and now "free for non-commercial use")

(although i DO find it interesting that Allbootdisks haven't seemed to receive C&D and they are passing out even newer MS OSes (7.x, XP boot files etc...)

(and, admittedly, I am not sure the status of just giving out a plain boot-disk...laws vary from country to country as well)

just tried a private message and get these options...

probably have to put it on a cloud server like OneDrive (which is what I use) and provide him with a link, or use private email which allows file attachment, I don't see one in PM here, other than for pics and vids that is... (probably to discourage using the site to pass software around )

Gilly64 - sent you a PM - thank you very much for your help!
