yep haveing access to a keyboard while the thing is aparty is a great helpy
took me a bit to wonder why you did`t go for an adapter that fits in the KB slot but i get it now LOL
also that cutting wheel, I love using them on plastic, wheres the after shot of it all gunkd up hehehehehhe

Cheers Cosmic mate, yeah its a nice addition and really helpful! I did look at al the adapters available and the Lyra II seemed the best. Plus as you probably realised I'm still using the original KB with ribbon too so using one that occupied the ribbon slot wouldn't be possible. I could have plugged a ribbon adapter in as I mod I suppose, but I thought i'd try and make it integrated
Yeah mate! Dremels are ace! I usually take pics of the "After i've cleaned up" and just place the tool in position not turned on, bit of a cheat I know as its normally a right mess when you cut for real!

It has been a big effort Chris I can tell you, but I've been determined from the very start to keep it all in the Wedge. I never thought i'd get this far though, i'm really happy with it, but that's it now for adding things, modding is over! there may be an odd tweak here and there but nothing major now. Of course I will often have the lid off to perform tests and such, that will always be a given, I love tinkering Anyway, thanks for the kind words mate

I put the 320GB HDD in tonight and booted OS 4.0 to see how it would go. It went ok, found the drive in full. But I didn't finish off as I got tired. Will try again tomorrow. My plan is to set up the drive in OS 4 and then load on 3.9 after.

@kyle, yeah I do plan to buy OS 4.1 Classic for it. But if its anything like trying to get OS 4.0 working then i'm in for a bit of a hair pulling out session. I've been trying to get OS 4.0 working these last few days (spare time permitting) on my new 320GB HDD and it goes through all the installation process fine, but when I turn off the power and do the 15 second wait (I waited 1 minute) to flush the Kickstart and boot for the first time from HDD it just goes into an instant infinite reset loop YAAAY!
I've tried twice now. Once with IDE Fix enabled and floppy fix enabled (it recommends this even though my floppy isn't an Escom type). And once with both these options off (all the other options are default or obvious like using a BVPPC etc). I tried it with my 3.9 ROMS and 3.1 ROMS (just incase, although doubted this would be an issue) still same problem.
I was only doing this for a bit of a "quick" test, just to see how my system behaved with RTG etc, thinking OS 4 would allow me to test all my extra bits alot quicker than getting OS 3.9 working. But its not left me in the best of moods TBH. I left the Amiga in a huff and turned on the Neo Geo instead! Samurai Spirits FTW!

How did you get into the customs electronics side to your installation - I wouldn't have a clue on where to begin creating things like the video switcher etc. I am jealous!!

Well funny you should mention OS 4.1, as we "speak" i'm bashing my head against a wall trying to get it working. I've been getting EXACTLY the same errors with OS 4.1 as with OS 4.0. Today, however, I did manage to get it working on a spare drive set up with FFS only. It seems that the problem may be file system related and my IDEfix Express. It seems I will only be able to run OS 4.1 on my system with FFS. I'm just running through an install right now on my 320GB HDD so will report on if it works.
The custom electronics part is because i'm an electronic technician by trade and have been repairing all sorts of stuff for the last 15 years or so,. The stuff i've made is based on designs already out there. I've just adapted them to my own use

It seems its not even going to work in OS 4.1 as its not officially supported. i'm going to try and load the drivers for it and see what happens though. Ah, that explains it! - very good work
What a shame about the Delfina card and OS 4.1 Classic - in my humble opinion we really need someone to make a modern PPc card for Classic Amiga, and with that (due to renewed interest) I am sure all the holes that exist in terms of hardware compatibility would soon be resolve by the rich pool of talent we have within the Amiga community. I guess currently there is little motivation as the user pool for Classic OS 4.1 is relatively small I guess
I am going to have to pop along to a show at some point and see this in the flesh

@ad, I did once want there to be a new PPC card for classic amiga, but now I think it would be a waste of time. The card would have to be a complete system on a card to get around the bottlenecks of the A1200 boards interfaces etc, and then you might as well buy a true NG Amiga. Something I'm considering myself actually.
I've not been doing much with this poor old girl recently what with my holidays and the generally "get out and play with a ball" weather (and the fact that i'm hooked on watching "Lost" right from the beginning, up to season 5 ATM). But the last time I had her fired up I got online using the built in Ethernet adapter under OS 4.1. It was dog slow, but worked! I will blow the dust off soon and get on with the installations of OS 4.1 and 3.9 though. The Delfina might work through some way, i've been discussing this with DarrenHD on the Amigakit dealer area. So not give up hope there yet.

Be good to meet up too! Beers... retro games.... Beers.... more Beers.... ! Shame, it sounds like it is struggling with 4.1 a little, but an awesome achievement running a modern OS on a computer that is 20 years old effectively - not many machines can do that I suspect!
I see what you are saying about a modern PPc for the classic Amiga - I say, never say never, but you make a compelling argument against - finally the limit I suppose I totally agree with your sentiment about 'a complete system on a card' - I think Jens has made an accelerator type adapter for the C64, but the idea was killed for me when I read that it will run even without a C64 plugged into it Not knocking Jens - just my sentimental point of view I guess wanting the machine to be at the heart of everything

Shame no one has developed a small enhanced IDE or SATA controller, this would likely sort the majority of your painful performance problem out with OS4.1
