I'm really enjoying all the pics my friend! I hope the best of luck. It's indeed a nice pr0n viewing and a really slick modding! Damn, I need to finish at some point my own A1200D PPC :)

Keep up the excellent work \o/

Cheers mfilos, now I figured out how to embed photos I will provide even more close up goodness! I am on a bit of a roll at the moment with ideas so i'm steaming on whilst they are all fresh.

Very nice work!
Hope you will find BVision - system is really flying on this graphic card. And for AOS4.0 BVision is a "must have" in my opinion.

It's giving me more and more motivation to finish my A4000D -> Tower+Mediator+VooDoo 5 5500 project. :)
My first A4000D will stay in desktop anyway - I like classic design. ;)

I agree Stan, Love the classic look. Can't stand Towers! Would love to be able to hack an Amiga into a (useable) laptop!

Your A1200D will be a superb machine

I hope so Kyle :) Cheers!

I've edited some earlier posts in this thread so the photos are more flowing. I just need to figure out how to embed youtube videos, anyone care to let me in on how to do it via PM? ;) I am still quite a n00B

Hi,
Beautiful work.

My 1200D project looks like :censored: next to yours.

Best regards
Allan

That would be awesome, but still very costly! Take it from a guy who's done it on an A600... Nearly impossible to find a "proper" laptop shell, and you need to find a wide screen (due to the A1200's mobo length) that you'd have to figure how to interface with.. Not to mention the power part, where a battery is real difficult. I can't really say mine is a laptop, more like a portable unit. :coffee:

HAHA! cheers Allan, but do you have any pics? i'm sure its not that bad! would love to see it :)

I'd love a tiny small Amiga laptop. The closest I have is this Acer Aspire one I write on now which dual boots Ubuntu with Icaros. Do you have any pics of your project? would love to see it!

And here are some more pics of my project...

The rear exhaust fan is in, providing much needed heat release from the HDD and indivision.

13082010756.JPG

I've also made my custom back plate for VGA and Ethernet.

10082010706.JPG

The blank part of the board will one day hold an auto video switching circuit for BVision and Indi outputs. the small Ethernet adapter will connect to my Subway at some point.

13082010743.JPG

The Compact Flash card reader is in too..

13082010739.JPG

The card fits nicely.

13082010740.JPG

USB ports in as well!

13082010730.JPG

Bit of glue for them and they are solid.

13082010747.JPG

Floppy installed ok ontop.

13082010749.JPG

Did some major modding to my delfina so it fits under my keyboard.

13082010737.JPG

It squeezes in over the DVD cables.

13082010752.JPG

From the other side next to the BPPC. a fair bit of space between it and the BPPC.

13082010754.JPG

Looking under the keyboard there is plenty of space! a good 2mm! ;)

13082010755.JPG

With the keyboard resting comfortably.

13082010757.JPG

So thats my doings over the last few days, as always see my G+ album for the more intricate details of my modding here: -

@Phipscube

I have been reviewing this wonderfull build - truly inspiring!

and you know what... I think I can help you with the BVision =D

PM on route

No one seems to be rating threads theseday's, so I took liberty of Gold Starring this one & must insist it gets a Sticky too!

@ Phipscube

Simply stunning m8. Just absolutely fan-bloomin-tastic.

All the best.

Cheers Keith! I'm glad you like it :) PM's are bouncing back an forth regarding your BVision :) just so everyone knows, Its a broken one but it might be possible to make one good BVision out of my Dud and Keiths.

I have only a word to say: EXCELLENT!

Thanks again Kyle, i'm glad you are enjoying my little project :)

WOW! :o Thanks very very muchly Kin! :D Is my Project really that good? I do hope it can help others with good ideas in modding their own A1200's. Just like Mfilos and r0jaws projects inspired me, I must say I am feeling very honoured to be pinned up in the sticky section along with those guys!

Very, very nice! :D You did a great job!

Heather

Thanks Heather! I'm glad you like it :) And i'm not quite finished yet so more to come! In the next few days i will mount the Subway, that will be along the back. also need to mount the three case fans and cut a hole in the Accelerator trapdoor and put some mesh in it so that beastly BPPC can breathe a bit ;)

Is you project really that good!?

Jesus fella, you've crammed so much stuff into that A1200 Desktop, you deserve a medal for doing it in such a beautiful manner.

Very tidy indeed.

Kin

HAHA! Aye ok I guess I have gone a bit mental, still more to get in that old girl though! Then you can give me a medal Kin, Ok ? ;)

So long as you have a chest to pin it on. :D

Seriously though, a really fantastic job well done.

Just need a G-Clamp for my swelling head as well :p

But yeah, seriously its nice to receive lots of praise, makes me happy about what i've done so far :)

So here are a few more things i've been doing: -

I managed to fit the Subway along the back and made some plugs on the end of the 4 wires coming from the 2 side USB ports, the Ethernet adapter and the CF card reader. I also installed my BVision temporarily to see how it all fit. The heatsinks on the BVision arent fixed down.

16082010798.JPG

Heres a zoomed out view of everything in just so you see how crammed the old girl is! :D

16082010800.JPG

I modified the trapdoor with an aluminium mesh

17082010805.JPG

Thats better for the Beast, and I think it looks kinda mean... like a wild caged animal! Don't worry it wont bite now ;)

17082010806.JPG

Added the case fans! much needed air intake. The old girl sounds a bit rowdy now, even though the fans are rated at 11dB, its still a bit noisy.

17082010811.JPG

A shot of the case coming over the top, with the fans in view.

17082010812.JPG

That anxious moment before you power up after a heavy mod... will it work, will it burn... you all know that feeling (its what us modders kinda get a kick from)................ SHE WORKS!

17082010816.JPG

I treat her to a little bit of bling: -

17082010814.JPG

And a wide shot to show off

17082010815.JPG

You can see more details at my G+ web album too of course :)

Enjoy! :D

Wow, this looks amazing :D
That mesh idea on the trapdoor is a pretty good idea

Are the fans glued ?

Great as always

Just a curiosity, how much have you spent for the whole beast?

Are the fans glued ?

I stuck them down with small pieces of industrial sticky back pad (from work) but added some hot glue around the edges after I took the photo just to be sure.

Great as always

Since April and in bits of course it adds up to A touch over €1500 (excluding shipping costs)... don't tell my missus

That's more busy then a bishops hat! I love that badge too, where did you get that from may I ask? :)

As JuvUK says you can find them on Ebay.de... but I got mine from Alinea, they have lots of crazy merchandise too :) Check here: -

So my quest to get software running has started. I've not had much time the last few days to do much with the old girl (packing to go away) but tonight I managed to get the Subway USB controller running and verify that all my USB ports are working :)

heres a short vid on Youtube: -

[m]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-V1dCwKggQ&feature=channel[/m]

Excuse my fumbling, it was hard to plug in the USB stick and CF card when looking through the camera video window :p

(anyone care to tell me how to embed video? Yes i'm dense so PM me :D )

And some photos: -

Firstly, I tried to do a bit of hackery with my daughter sat on my knee.. not a good idea... she enjoyed herself though nearly smashing the keyboard! :D

21082010829.JPG

Ok, this is with the Subway installed. as you can see my CF card reader and Ethernet adapter are both detected.

21082010831.JPG

I plug in a USB key into one of the USB ports..

21082010834.JPG

Its detected! :)

21082010833.JPG

And on the workbench...

21082010836.JPG

Trying out the CF reader....

21082010837.JPG

And that pops up instantly too :)

21082010838.JPG

So those parts work!

Next i'd like to try testing the Ethernet adapter and Delfina... I go away next Wednesday for a while so I hope I can squeeze them tests in beforehand!
