Wow that thing gives an Xbox 360 a run for its money noise wise...

Is it wrong that I'm a lttle turned on by this setup?

The noise indeed comes from 2 fans (since the 40mm fans on BVision and the 30mm fan on PicoPSU are totally noiseless):
1. The fan of BPPC
2. The 25mm fan under the DVD-RW

I already got an 25mm really expensive fan as a replacement that makes almost no noise so total setup will be kinda noiseless. Also the case isn't on yet :)

I've seen the video, is it EMPY player you are running or a skin for Eagleplayer ?
Where did you find it ?

@rkauer: thanks a lot.

@mfilos: impressive machine and well done for configuration.. it's for sure a dream machine, perfectly thought and useful.

One more nightly upgrade :)

I thought of mounting at last my Subway to it's permanent location. After fiddling around for some time, testing it where I liked it better... I decided that the only place that suited my needs best was under the DVD-RW!

The space available is indeed minimal but I don't need much :) After all, under the DVD-RW the only thing that exists is the awesome Auto AGA/RTG Switch by Ratte.
Well you can take a look at it:

Ok the only thing left now was the extension cable that needed to be routed and joined with the original header that I put some time ago (on the lower part of the case).
So... I routed the cable under BVision and hotglued left from BPPC. Then I joined all 8 pins with the old cable and voila... It's mounted now on DJBase's Clockport expander and rock stable :)

I hope you like it :)

I really love this machine. Only thing I thought was missing from the linux video was showing an app opening within linux ie text editor or something, just to see how fast they load and run. Apart from that awesome stuff.

One question, I run linux myself as a daily machine, but was not using linux back with sarge, was there a uae/euae working on sarge?. If so I wanted to know just for kicks if uae/euae would run ;)

Awesome machine m8, love it to bits.

Great idea putting the Subway under the DVD Marios mate! And now you have an nice "big" space at the front to put in a Delfina over the Kicks ;)

@Phipscube
EXACTLY!
It's really funny we concider BIG such a minimal space after fitting so much shiz inside :)

I wish I had your skillz and gearz for removing the connectors from the Delfina myself :)
These capacitors underneath plus the mini clockport connector seem a bit risky to EVEN try with just soldering iron and manual pump. Gotta wait until I get more gearz

½mm spare space FTMFW! :D

Shall I tell you what I did Marios mate? it was quite destructive, but I didn't want to risk desoldering with a pump or braid, so I took a pair of small needle nose pliers and applied fresh solder to each pin on the headers, then used the soldering iron on each pin to heat then gently pull out each pin from the topside and through the plastic of the IDC headers. It means that you can't put them back on (unless you find some new IDC bits), but you can be sure you won't risk damaging your Delfina board. And yeah, be VERY careful with the two small capacitors hand soldered underneath. Those two caps are the difference between your machine working and not working with the BPPC installed! They need to stay in place, but again, soldering iron on pin, gently and failry swiftly pull the pin, and the caps will stay in place :)

The big electrolytic capacitor should be easy enough, just pluck it out slowly, then add some bits of old resistor cut offs, then mount the cap at 90 degress on them.

The CDDA headers are quite easy too, they can be eased out slowly as long as you apply some fresh solder and run the iron over the 4 pins swiftly whilst gently pulling with pliers.

Adding the clock ribbon cable and CDDA extension cables is just a matter of time an patience.

And lastly, I recommend you find an old piece of thin floppy perspex/plastic to stick under the Delfina to avoid shorts, and add some insulation tape or something on top of the oscillators just to be safe.

If you need any more help mate, be sure to ask :)

Thanks for the tips Les my friend!!!
I had EXACTLY the same idea about the clockport because I have done it in the past and it worked like a charm!

The 26pin etc connector is not so bad and can be done with the same method (not to mention you can just cut it's pins if you're bored - LOL).
Capacitor plus the Audio Jack+Connectors are very easy so no issue there.

Ofc I'm gonna put insulation under Delfina as I do in all the things I put inside for safety :)

Cheers again my friend.

Not exactly an A1200D upgrade or something but I had to include it here since it runs on this A1200 :)

Some time ago I thought of doing something cool cause I was curious how will it look :)

I got a clip of 1280x1024 of Crysis and based on it I made the following steps:

  • Exported pictures from video (527 pics for about 1min of video)
  • Downsized all pictures to 640x512 (Original /2)
  • Converted all pictures to 16 color IFF format including Floyd-Steinberg dithering (using ImageStudio and Rebel's Palette). For not doing that 527 times (not a good way to suicide) I created a script in ImageStudio and all was great :)
  • Putted all pictures to an 527 pictures animation file under PPaint (one-by-one. Ok that suxed a bit but it wasn't so painful)

Result is really cool if you imagine that is only 16 colors!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbG66Phm1iU

OFC don't expect for it to run ok on 030. You can see that even in my 060@60MHz it's a bit slow (despite loading the animation file to RAM!)

File size of the animation file is ~54MB for 1.07min of video LOL!
I'll upload the anim to my Dropbox for anyone's wanna check it out on WinUAE or 060 Amiga.

I hope you like it :)

Thats great Marios :)

hires 16 colour can realy look as good as lores 256 colours

Jawesome stuff Marios! I'll be looking forward to this file, so i can try it on my 060 Draco :)
