Hi everyone!

I bought my first Amiga computer a few days ago, and now want to build up a good working machine. So far, so good, but why do I post it here??
Because I hope I can get some hints and help from you! :D

Board Revision is 6.2
1MB ChipRAM

I bought some things so far the last three days:

- Kickstart 3.1
- Indivision ECS
- found an GVP Impact A2000 68030 16MHz Rev. 4 two days ago at a market (for few Eurones  )
- phase5 Cybervision 64/3D yesterday
- SCSI HD controller / 528MB HDD
- 2nd floppy
- CD-ROM drive

Now I search a REAL accelerator (68060/50), posted already in "WANTED" topic.

Maybe some ppl can tell me what I need further and if I did right till now...

Thank you!

Id go for a DKB Megachip too to get you another meg of chip ram, Ive got one in one of my A2000's and it works great!

Cor! That's looking quite impressive already. Things you might want to consider next would be some Zorro cards. Possibly an Ethernet card, sound card and even USB if you can track one down.

If you're going for all the bells and whistles, you'll probably want the 2MB ChipRAM upgrade, too. Finally, I don't know enough about the Indivision ECS, you might benefit from getting an ECS Super Denise to replace the A2000's standard Denise.

Also, you must provide us all with some pictures!

Wow that is some sweet machine ThunderStorm81!!!!
Maybe you could seach for a soundsampler, ethernet card and/or ramextensions.

Enjoy your megamachine ;)

Grtz, PymerOne.

Im with the other guys about the ethernet card dude, get that miggy on the net! The x-Surf is a great card and Im sure Ive seen one advertised here in the last few days too :)

Thank you all for the feedbacks so far!

Sure I will make pics soon... ;)

I looked already for more Chipmem, I will post when I get some ideas.

I think about AmigaOS 3.9, is it comfortable on my system?

By the way, would anybody buy this system for *** Euro:

I'm afraid you're not allowed to ask questions like that on Amibay, it's considered price-driving. We disallow any discussion on prices, otherwise you can get into all kinds of arguments as to what something is worth. The answer is "It's worth what a buyer is willing to pay and a seller is willing to accept"

I know it's a bit confusing, but if you hang around here for long enough, it'll all make sense (eventually) -- I suggest you grab a coffee and have another browse of the old rules. :readit:

A bit of advice:

As you already have an Indivision ECS, you don't need the ECS Denise.

Another megabyte of chip RAM will make your A2000 compatible with all ECS & OCS games via WHDLoad, just use the latest ROM (3.1) and take an image of the current one you have (1.3 & 2.04/2.05 will suffice) and that's it.

You'll not be able to run AGA games in your machine, but those are less than 15% of all Amiga games.

As for OS3.9: you can run it in your machine as it is now, the 030 card will be enough. WHDLoad loss compatibility with 040 & 060 accelerators, and you'll reduce the amount of possible running games, even on WHDLoad.

Okay thank you!

So I can't play AGA games even with a Cybervision?

So you wouldn't invest in a stronger accelerator?

It all depends what you want to do with the miggy. If you want to play games, a fast '030 is the most-compatible accelerator out there. If you're more serious about productivity software, an '060 will be a worthy choice.

Realized there could be some problems with the CR3202, so I maybe just use normal accumulators. Is there anybody with experience?

I've installed a CR2032 into my A2000 and it's been working fine for months, no problems at all. I've been meaning to put together a howto thread on the old coin battery hack. The most-important thing is to ensure you've got a diode in there to stop the Amiga trying to recharge the CR2032.

I know that with diode, no problem with that. I just thought there might be too low capacity and a porblem with the diode (takes 0,7V away from battery), so maybe there could be problems with HDD or something. But good to hear it works, so I can do that now...

@TS81: The indicated diode type is a germanium one, who have just a 0.3V voltage drop.

But with the very low current involved the voltage dropout will not be that significant.
