My first own Amiga!

You need to buy the 1N60 diode, it is very easy to find and cost very few money.

Realized there could be some problems with the CR3202, so I maybe just use normal accumulators. Is there anybody with experience?

I've installed a CR2032 into my A2000 and it's been working fine for months, no problems at all. I've been meaning to put together a howto thread on the old coin battery hack. The most-important thing is to ensure you've got a diode in there to stop the Amiga trying to recharge the CR2032.

the CR2032 is a 3V battery, but the original battery was a 3.6V battery..
don't you loose time here ?

That's right, I thought about that, but it seems to work in other machines...

But I've got a big other problem now with my Amiga: I cleaned the whole machine (except mainboard, because i'll clean it when the parts of my battery are here) with opening every drive and PSU, now she doesn't do ANYTHING AT ALL when I want to start it! I hope I just forgot a cable or something... will open it again later on...

@rkauer: the 1N60 diode costs few money? Do you realize it's 30 times more expensive than other diodes? (doesn't matter, because a "normal" diode costs just 4 cents, but keep the relation in mind)

@TS81: The indicated diode type is a germanium one, who have just a 0.3V voltage drop.

But with the very low current involved the voltage dropout will not be that significant.

I was thinking why can't we just use a old xt trick and use AA rechargeable
battery's that would get rid of the diode and it takes some risk away..

Okay, the machine works again, the problem lies in one of the two FDDs...

Here some pics of my Amiga:

Finally my CyberVision64/3D arrived!

Just plugged it in, but then following happens:

No more extended RAM available

only 440Kb ChipRAM

WTF is this? Can anybody explain? Doesn't change when I remove FastRAM board.

I thought about the AA solution on my own. The only thing is, it takes some place. But I will also see about that...

I think your problem relies on the RAM configuration, my friend.

Since you have the Impact A3001 (don't get mislead by the code: it is the first GVP A2000 accelerator), and probably with the RAM8 "expansion" hooked on the back.

Thing is: this accelerator, when with the RAM8, put all its memory address in the Zorro2 space, ruling out anything you can use in there.

Solution: move the jumpers on the RAM8 to it just "give" 4Mb of RAM and live with it.

Or replace this accelerator with a newer/better one.

Oh, and SACK that battery out before it's too late!

Yes, the problem was the RAM, I realized just a few hours later and configured the RAM extension for 4 MB, now all RAM is available... ;-)

The battery is out and the CR2032 is in and working.

I just wait for a new 68030 accelerator with FPU, then I will test the CyberVision...
