i used to have a pc engine gt, must say though that the battery life and screen quality were rubbish and the speakers broke, but it did have a quirky charm to it, cost me £70 with 14 games, mate told me he knew someone selling a gameboy type thing, so he brought it round and i couldnt believe it.

but its one of the only retro gaming systems i sold, much better to play via emulation than on the original hardware due to the screen. If you could somehow stick in a gba ags 101 screen into it that would be amazing

Yeah, The GT is a battery hog and the screen is a bit odd on early games with a certain font, Galaga '88 for example (awesome game, just can't read the text! but that doesn't make the game play any worse). After 1990 NEC made sure nobody used the specific font that caused issues on the GT screen.

I overcame the battery issue with Eneloop rechargeable batts, they last TWICE as long as Alkalines (so a good 3 to 4 hours which is more comfortable) I recommend these for the Lynx, Game Gear and Nomad too. Amazing batteries.

I was considering making a 3.5" screen mod as seen on pcenginefx.com, but after some time I got used to the screen and now like its old fuzzyness. I mainly favour the PCE GT because I admired how advanced it was comapared to other Handhelds at the time. That and the sheer amount of good PCE games that I can also play on the big screen with my Original white PCE :)

I recommend the first thing anybody does with a GT (or Express) is replace all caps, they are even worse than Amiga for cap degradation. NEC used some nasty cheap things. I also advise GT over an Express unless you like American games better than Japanese. If you can switch mod it, then no worries, either will do :)

A very nice collection, indeed. :) There's a few items there I would love to get!

I've got a good little collection going myself. I would really like to add some of the Game & Watch games to my collection at some point. I really love some of those old games.

Hey Steve, that's a great collection you've got there, I'd too recommend an Atari Lynx, I have both models (although the the 2nd gen looks more modern), only problem is they eat batteries unless you have them running from a PSU or you can mod them with a LED backlight which solves the problem.

I like the Gameboy micro :)

Nice collections, Fitz and others!

I've fancied a GBA Micro and regretted not getting one, when they were on clearance for pocket money. I do have the original GBA modded with light for display and a DS Lite so I really don't need the Micro for other than its looks. My other handhelds are a couple of Game & Watch games.

Thanks for the kind words guys :)

I'd love a PCE GT or Lynx II - that's be great addition to the collection, maybe if they come along at a reasonable price!

I got a stack of HU Cards here so I'd be sorted for the GT :ninja:

Hi!

Little update as I've acquired some more goodies since this thread was created :D

Lots of GG Games and 2 Lynxes the main additions, some NOS Lynx Games too!

The top Lynx needs recapping I think although sound is good LCD is poor. A button doesn't work so I need to open it up for inspection.

Bottom Lynx works great but has damage to LCD :(

GG works great, screen has some lines, sound is perfect. Will re-cap it eventually. Need to investigate why it wont run on batteries!

As you can see I have built up a pretty decent collection of GG Games, mostly from eBay, some from here I think too. Tend to buy in job lots if I can although some games were sort out as individually like the awesome Fantasy Zone :ninja:
