Well yesterday was Amiga day and here is what I got up to.....:)
After picking up a C64 and A500 that was in a very sorry state I painted the C64 then got on with the Amiga A500 as you can see it was very yellowed and in a sorry state.
This project was to give me something to do before I re create my Metallic cherry red A1200 so here are the pictures of where I`m at this so far is 2 days work form stripping down cleaning and the start of the repainting.
Watch out for the "for sale sign soon"... :D
Anyway so we have the A500 as it was (yellowed) then primed up, also gives you a idea of what a silver A500 with Black keyboard would look like and then what it will look like when completed (not yet finished)

I will post the finished A500 pictures on here when its done

Forgot to say I added a old picture of my Cherry red A1200 this was sold but I am planning a new one soon.

I really love the metallic finish on that red! It's brilliant! How do you get the colour to "stick" on the ABS plastic though?

Well my idea for my A1200 is to go "ironman" style with metallic red with a flash of gold, I was thinking of doing some of the keys on the keyboard in gold....got loads of ideas..

Getting the the paint to stick is no problem on a Amiga as the case is rough (pitted) but smooth on the inside, if it was smooth outside you would have to rub it down (rough it up) to give the paint a key to stick too, I'm not saying that it would not chip or rub off with heavy use, but I can't see that happening really as this will get finished with lacquer to harded the surface just like on a car after all it's car paint that is used, this will also bring out the metallic better.
if you look at some of my threads you may find tips on painting (but I'm no expert) did it as a job once and sprayed my own motorbike and car in the past.

hope this helps to answer your question.

The finished pictures of the A500, I had to put on some extra stickers as I had 2 small blemishes on the paint work and just covered these to save repainting it again.
I will also be replacing the C= logo badge as some paint bleed on it...

That looking Good colours for Amiga 500 and black keyboard to match it :)

:( oh dear just tested the A500 as I never really tested it before I started the paint job, and the disk drive is buggered, so after stripping down the A500 again to take a look inside the drive I found a broken spring from the eject mechanism......:banghead:

Brilliant stuff :)

because:

1. You did not rob a poor CDTV keyboard!
2. Paint job looks great! where did you do this?
3. What model disk drive do you have?
4. The keyboard stickers, what are they made of? do they need to be sealed?

Spraying is something I would like to do someday but do not have a suitable area to complete without people touching it, flys landing on it etc!
I have thought about making a huge sealed paint box thing with fume extracter... last time I sprayed something I did it in the kitchen and well... tbh the missus went crazy and I had to clean every bloody surface down. I only sprayed an old microsoft mouse lol.
