Hi. I just wanted to share my new toy. I've been looking for a nice SD2IEC for my Commodore 64. I wanted one that was polished and nice looking. Not a fan of external pcb and wires everywhere. Most of these seem to look like home brew hacks. Some are nicer than others, but this one is simply awesome. It connects to the cassette port and it gets power from there and it also fits snug. The cable then attaches to the serial port.

You can find it on eBay, the seller is in Spain. Cost is around $75 which I think is very reasonable.

I really like it a lot. Looks professional and though I would share.

That's the best looking one I've seen so far. I don't know that I love the tape port power in general, but it's definitely a lot better than the pile of PCBs and wires I have here. I do whoever have a 2nd IEC port on mine.

not as nice as yours but I got this a week or so ago :)

@ TJ Lazer

Do you have a web link to that unit that isn't an auction? I'd like to read up on that unit you have as it does look really professional.

Nope I don't, I saw it on eBay and bought it. There are more for sale on there now, from Spain.

Attached to my first post is the user's guide for it.

You mean Spain Ebay that you bought it?

I will have look :) I already got Atari SD2IEC with over 100 games on it :D

Next up.....I will have get C64 SD2IEC next in say 2 week time thought as that when my next pay day come :(

Very nice!

Can I ask question - how long, with a standard kernel, does it take to load a d64?

Is it the same speed as a real 1541 or faster?

Thx :)

@TJ: how is using a PAL 64 in NTSC* land?

NTSC = Not Twice Same Color.

This is a joke some good friends from America tells, pstrinic.

Back on tube TV times people had to tilt the "tint" button madly because the colors went wrong all times.

In France the TV colour system is SECAM: SEcond Colour Always Magenta. Also known as "Something Essentially Contrary to the American Method"

Hadn't heard that before. France is generally "Something Essentially Contrary to the All-other Method", in most things, no? ;)
