With the imminent release of the S-AGA Natami and with the release of the minimig, im curious how many of the old school amiga users would be (serious) about buying one ?

Surely a (new) amiga system is just what we all want? and as more and more Amiga equipment is getting older and failing is this the future of the Amiga brand?

i for one am waiting for the natami to appear and will be jumping on board to buy one asap or at least when funds allow :-)

im just curious how many of use would buy the Natami or have bought the minimig

cheers
:-)

michael.

I am all over the NatAmi conceptually; I'm just hoping that it gets released at an affordable price. Minimig is probably great if you don't have space for a classic Amiga, but it's not really up my alley.

For me, the Natami is more interesting as its pushing forward an enhancement on whats already out there, but I like the Minimig and FPGArcade (Minimig AGA) concepts too.

I voted for "Nope not interested in Minimig." I do plan to buy a Natami, but not when it is first released, so I didn't vote for it here. Seems to me that Natami is the most legitimate successor the Commodore Amiga line.

conceptually, the Natami. realistically I'll stick with the classics I'd much rather see a new ppc accelerator made, I would contribute $500 to a project for one in exchange for being able to get a prototype that worked well with a classic. A G3 would be plenty of power.

Since there's no FPGA Replay option to choose, I voted for minimig (same thing basically) and Natami

Natami, as long as the price is right.

The NatAmi is "imminent"?? is there a release date now?

i believe the dev or beta boards are ready to be made...no release date yet tho

^-- What he said. Sums up my sentiments exactly. :-)

NatAmi looks most interesting to me too if I was to opt for one of them. but are these modular, meaning you only get base performance without upgrades?

Whats the expected price?

I can't really see the Natami ending up (what one would consider) a 'reasonable' price. But this is the Amiga world and a hypothetical late-90s Amiga would be priceless to some.

If it's anything below £500 I will eat my hat. I'd wager that it'll end up somewhere between £600 - £800 though.

The FPGA Arcade of course is perfect for those who just want a modern replacement to the frankenstein approach, that is currently the only way of having a decent classic rig.

FWIW, they are quoting a rough figure of around 200 euro's for the FPGA Replay board.

:) I have a Minimig and an A1200 so i don't know if i'll buy the Natami or the FPGA arcade board.
I really use them (minimig and 12OO) for gaming and both do that already very well.:)

I know. My speculations were for the NatAmi because there hasn't been a rough quote for that board yet.

Also forgot to add that it could still be some time before NatAmi comes into fruition.

Though the hardware maybe complete, seems coding the FPGAs still has a lot of work.

This is what I have picked up from their forums, but it can be hard going through a lot of the posts there for 'the not technical minded' (lot of serious stuff they talk about).

If you read carefully you can get some rough estimates for various prices on parts listed throughout threads on the Natami board. A lot of those random numbers are in USD and others are in Euros. My guess is the board will be north of the 500 Euro mark, but I do hope to purchase one when they become available. The concept is very interesting. I am learning C and Assembly for the sole purpose of trying to make a game for it when it comes out.
