I have the complete set of Workbench 3.0 disks, but refusing to boot.....have checked disks, which seem OK otherwise...my kickstart rom is 1.2 ....

I need a kind hearted person to offer to copy their WB disks to mine, but I understand I would only be allowed to pay postge costs only, due to copyright..

As I own these disks and will post the originals, I can't see how this can be illegal in any way, if I pay postage only....

If I buy these new from a supplier I will have to pay postage anyway, the postage element does not constitute a service payment for time or software.....

thanks

May I ask? Are you trying to boot the Workbench 3.0 disks in your Amiga with Kickstart 1.2?

I think that too, because 3.0 disks are FFS (FastFileSystem) where 1.2 uses OFS (OldFileSystem).

Hi

Think I realised what I must have done....I sold my previous Amiga, which must have been upgraded or newer and would hVe workd with the workbench 3.0 disks......I then bought another Amiga 500,which was obviou
sy an original 1.2 kickstart......but came without disks...

I have Amiga forever full package, so assume I have all workbench files, can I make 1.3 workbench disks from these on my PC or somehow link the PC to the Amiga and do it that way...

thanks

You can't write the disk images with a PC unless you have a Catweasel or Kryoflux hardware addon. If you have enough memory in the A500 you could transfer the images to it using a serial cable from the PC and write the images from the A500 floppy drive.

EDIT:
Your other option is to use Amiga Explorer which is part of the Amiga Forever package, install the PC part and transfer the Amiga part onto a Workbench disk or similar and do it that way. Either way you will need a serial cable between your PC and Amiga.

it's going to be very difficult to do,,, even with a serial cable how do you get the serial transfer software to the Amiga ??

your best bet is to see if anyone near you can create the disks for you or post you some.

may I ask why you want workbench disks for an Amiga A500 1.2 there isn't any real use for them or do you want to run a piece of software that requires them as 99.9% of Amiga games self boot ?
