Not quite a for sale thread but I have a substantial Neo Geo MVS collection including a 'one off' Neo Geo MVS home system in an AES shell with UniBios 3.0 which for most of its life is sat in a flight case and neatly packed away...

Dont get me wrong I do 'use' it and play 'on' it but it is a similar story with my Amiga 1200 - nice to have and true to my 'roots' of having a proper retro system as opposed to emulation but the question is, do I sell now and cash in or keep and enjoy but risk 'system' failure at some point?

I always said I wouldn't sell my 1200 [as well as my AES/MVS] \s I always wanted one (even when I got a 600 on Christmas day '94!) but the Neo Geo - this is my 4th system and I always sell up and end up collecting again but I think this would be my last time as the price keep increasing...even MVS prices are increasing more and more these days!

So what I'm asking is...should I stay or should I go...

I Still got Metal Slug MVS and if I was you....I would keep it because there is nothing like it as it like having own Arcade which had Everythings!

I have Metal Slug 1, 2, X, 3, 4 and 5 MVS... as well as other 'classics' but they are simply not being used as much as I would like...I would rather they be used that sit in a sexy Shock Box in a box somwhere but then again they could end up somewhere else doing the exact same!

Wile I agree that they shouldn't sit unused, don't you think you'll regret it sooner rather than later? I know I would :)

I probably would, that's why I created this thread so you guys could talk some sense into me!

I have a MVS setup (consolized) and a AES. Whilst I have not used them recently like you (along with my A1200) it would be a disaster to move them on.

Even my wife recognises that the Neo Geo is a valuable piece of kit and won't let me sell it. She knows I imported it from Japan over 10 years ago and that it is rare. She hates games etc. but knows it should be kept.

I consider the Amiga and Neo Geo my "core" items. Do not touch or sell! Therefore I have been trimming the fat with other pieces of my collection (e.g. GX 4000).

Neo Geo Aes Console is Excellent Machine and you can even put MVS Convector(yes, I know you have buy MVS Convector which isnt cheap but worth it in long run because MVS games are cheap at the moment!) if you think Neo geo Aes games are expensive

As have I, with the addition of my SNES!

I have pretty much trimmed most bits from my collection and I was looking and the Neo stuff yesterday fondly but by the sounds of it I should hold on to it for a while longer at least.

System failure is a risk for all of us, and if you view your collection as an investment then selling before it strikes is essential, however if like me you view your collection as a just that "a collection" then selling just means your collection gets smaller.
About 2 years ago (maybe even 3) i bought a boxed Vectrex with lots of boxed games for just £80 and obviously i could have turned a decent profit on it and avoided the risk of it failing but i didn't because it's something i wanted for my collection, a few months ago the screen started to fail, it's ok once it warms up but it's only a matter of time before it gives up the fight, so how do i feel? well obviously its sad because its an amazing machine and its dying but do i wish i'd sold it before its value crashed? no i don't
What i'm trying to say is its all down to what you see your collection as and whether or not you believe the experience of owning it and playing it makes the expense worthwhile

I built myself this a while back, and although I don't get to play it very often, when I do use it I'm really glad I have it :) You can't beat playing the classics on real hardware with buttons that can take a serious beating!

Don't get rid of yours! If you decide you want one later it will probably cost you a lot more next time and the new one could fail on you at any time too.

Bryce.

That's pretty cool! Nice and tidy too

I'd be interested if you did decide to sell up as I've always toyed with the idea of having a Neo Geo. It was such a thing of awe in the mid 90's because no one could afford one. But I would advise not to sell. You will regret it. Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow. But soon. And for the rest of your life.

Came across this while tidying up and leaving feedback...

How times change, sold my Amiga before summer and just recently sold my MVS system!

Anyone interested in some MVS carts?!
