Hi Bas
I've tried another cf card and there as been an improvement. There is still a delay but only about 2 seconds, strange, the delay is there all the time regardless if I've just switch on the beeb or its been running for a while.

Thank you for the info on *MEM, I have had a game reclaiming page already and had to reset and start again with !E00.

What is !MMC and !TMMC used for?

John

If you ever have to carry out work on your mainboard then I recommend swapping out the Signetics 244 as part of the job, that will eliminate all delays.

2 Seconds I think I could live with, don't forget everytime you press break ADFS rereads the Catalogue into its workspace before displaying the prompt, so it's possible your "new" card is a little slower than the previous one, which of course is why it's happier with the signetics 244, The faster card wants the Texas jobby lol.

The important thing is it's stable, not corrupting data (which by the way I have never seen this interface do), and reliable.

If you have a TurboMMC(!TMMC) or std MMC(!MMC) device then you do not need to have the ROM installed in your Model B and lose precious RAM, lose it..
Then *EXEC !TMMC or !MMC will softload an MMC filing ROM into Bank B and you can use the MMC Card.

Bas :)

All my ROM sockets on my BBC Micro model B are occupied which of the IC I should take out to install the supplied ROM?

Hi Bas

I have replaced the 244 but it as made no difference, both cards still have the delay, any idea what I can try next.

I tried 2 different makes of 244, one an Hitachi and the other a Texas. The Hitachi came from an Atari ST and the Texas from a Master 128.

Just been informed that the new batch of PCB's are on the way, we have 30 toplay with.

First batch of 10 will be ready to ship by end of the week.

Enjoying the sun in Thessaloniki as I type this :D

I finally got around to play with my IDE interface, wife and 3 kids keep me busy. I did all the hardware necessary, connected the interface externally with a external 5v power supply. Could not find a 1GB card locally so I got an 8GB Verbatim, and partition it to 1GB, wrote BBC Micro Model B image but all I get is the enclosed picture, that days DFS and not ADFS like the video tutorial. I also get the two led on the board to light up but not the middle Access led. Also when I type *. to access the CF card I get a blinking cursor. Any suggestions please?

You will find the Official Acorn ADFS user guide in the download folder in pdf form.

I do recomend a good read :)

I am starting to get a feeling of how this excellent IDE interface works.
However I am getting a "bad sum" very often on my BBC micro model B, issue 7. The ADFS manual says if I get a "bad checksum", my RAM has a problem. Is this the same error?
Can you tell me the ID of the RAM to look on the motherboard ?

The Bad sum is due to loaded software when running corrupting the ADFS work space...just simply CTRL Break instead as this resets the workspace.
