Hi all

I have just got a new Elbox CDTV/2 and I wonder how other people have installed theirs? I gather from the instructions I need to jumper pins 7-6 on U74 but how would you connect the flying leads to the needed pins. Is there meant to be clips provided for this or are they meant to be soldered?
Thanks

As far as I am aware the Elbox CDTV/2 is a simple 2MB FAST RAM adaptor

You shouldn't need any jumpers - you just remove the CPU and install it on the adaptor - once done you then install the adaptor in CPU socket on the CDTV

It is wise to pay close attention to the orientation of the CPU!

I did notice that there are two wires from the adaptor PCB, however I do not believe that these are connected to anything - well my CDTV/8 adaptor wasn't and it worked fine =)

Hi Zetro, thanks for your reply

I have put a copy of the manual it came with on here. When you did your one then you just installed it and away you went?

Cheers

@2E1 BZU

My friend, those wires are simply their to provide a constant 3.3 volts from the battery to the OKI data clock IC.

My CDTV/8 didn't have a a battery (it had been removed) I suspect that it had been a bad battery or something.

Unless you need a battery backed up clock, I wouldn't suggest connecting the wires as they are not needed for memory (FAST RAM) operation. =)

Cheers Zetro

I am going to find some IC clips for them, it would be useful to keep the clock ticking when we have one of our frequent power fails!
