Hi,

I thought I would introduce myself, my name is Gavin and I've been an Amiga fan for years, but I haven't owned one for a while, until a few weeks ago!

So I purchased an Amiga 500+ and Amiga 600 bundle on eBay, condition unknown, it arrived and one PSU was DOA and the 500+ was in a state with missing covers and a leaky battery, I also received lots of floppies.

The Amiga 500+ was beyond my repair skills so I sold it on eBay with full disclosure of the issues. The 600 was then going to be my project (although I always dreamed of getting a 1200 so kept looking on eBay) I tested it and the keyboard only partially worked, I cleaned out the connector on on the motherboard and got it all working. I then pulled out the motherboard and have sent it away to Retro Passion for capping as I noticed 1 cap had a dull pad and it looked like a resistor may have fallen off the board. While waiting I ordered a few bits for it, I ordered a Furia which has 9.5mb ram, I also ordered 3.1 ROM and IDE to SD adapter and a new connector for PSU as I'm thinking I'll do a Meanwell PSU.

Whilst waiting I spotted an Amiga 1200 with CF card and Gotek for a decent price so I've purchased that! I can only keep 1 Amiga so I'm thinking I'll use be 1200 until my 600 board comes back, I will then get the 1200 recapped and use the 600 until it returns, I then need to work out an upgrade path for the 1200.

Anyway I'm looking forward to finding out the best options for the 1200 from the site.

Speak soon,
Gavin

Welcome. There"s a relatively big Amiga scene in Oxfordshire. Some big names live here (Archer Maclean). We used to hold Retrovision each year but i don't think there has been one for a few years.

A few of us used to meet up for a beer in Oxford every now and again to get our geek fix but i guess all that's on hold following Corona. Send me a PM if you wanted to.

lots of us still use our Amiga regularly

Thanks Alexh!

Great to know there are some local geeks to interact with :D

I'll check out the link!
