Newly registered on here but certainly not new to Amiga’s!.
I Got my first Amiga 500 in 1988 whilst still at school, moved on to College and used their Amiga 4000T to make 3D renders in Lightwave and make straps in Scala for the media students, I moved onto an Amiga 1200 around that time and bought an Apollo 040 for it. Gave them all away when I moved to PC around 1993/4 - a massive regret now obviously!.
One of my first jobs once leaving college was operating the computer systems for television game shows - most notably using Amiga 500’s and 2000’s in the live production of Catchphrase with Roy Walker. The contestants podiums were run by networked A500’s and the animations were all made in Deluxe Paint by a Company called Real-time Graphics. We played them out using the Amiga 2000’s with large chained SCSI external drives and a primarily A3000 to run it all.
I still work in the media industry and have since re-kindled my passion my Amiga’a by buying a rev.6a A500 and GVP drive - I still had my original 1024 monitor from way back. I’ve modded the GVP by replacing the HD with a SCSI CF card interface (I tried to replace the original drive but they are as rare as rocking horse s**t and expensive too) and upgraded the fast ram to 8MB. I’ve also upgraded the Kickstart so I can use WHDload on the GVP. The A500 has the ECS Angus so my next upgrade is to add another 512 chip ram to it.
I’m definitely not a fan of gotec drives and like to keep my Amiga’s as original as possible. I serial network my PC to the Amiga to copy software across - it works nicely. I’ve recently secured a deal on an Amiga 1200 HD which I’ll be collecting after the UK lockdown which I’m pretty excited about. I hope I can bring some of my Amiga knowledge to Amibay forums.
